Germany: Satellite to be certified double platinum
Satellite is one of only two songs in the last six years to be certified double patinum in Germany, the other being Lady Gaga's Poker face last year. The last song which received a higher certification was Cher's Believe, which was released in 1998 and certified five times gold in 2004. The last German artist who received a higher certification was season one Pop Idol winner Alexander Klaws, whose debut single Take me tonight was certified five times gold as well.
Satellite was a number one hit in Germany, but it also became a hit in other countries around Europe. In Sweden, the song had already entered the charts before the final of the Eurovision Song Contest and it managed to rise to the top, where it currently stands for the third consecutive week. The song was also a number one hit in Norway, Finland, Switzerland and Denmark as well as a top ten hit in Austria, Ireland, the Netherlands, Hungary and Belgium.
The album My cassette player is currently on top of the German charts for the fourth week in total. It includes the three top ten songs Satellite, Bee and Love me, which Lena had performed in the national final as well as two cover versions of songs she performed in the talent search Unser Star für Oslo. Apart from one song written by Ellie Goulding, all other songs were written by Lena herself and Stefan Raab. The next single to be released off the album is said to be Touch a new day, written by them. On her official website, Lena has announced that she will go on tour. Dates have not been set yet.

I agree with Igor and Togravus.... Satellite is a very modern, fashionable popsong...like so many songs nowadays in the charts. Fairytale was a eurovision song and I doubt that it would have done something outside the festival and without the festival's promotion.....
I agree with Igor 100 %. I certainly hope that we will see more songs like Germany 2010 or Turkey 2010 in the next years.
Absolutely disagree
Satellite is the most popular ESC song in years, and I really hope that her victory will bring more normal music to the contest
Lena and her song are so much better than Rybak and his song!
Lena's song is not typical ESC song like Rybak, plus Rybak really was horrible!
Fairytale, a typical Eurovision song? Please. The song which is not original between those two is Satellite, which was a typical quirky pop song with an aim to appeal the big mainstream music industry. Do you find songs like Fairytale or Satellite in general in those mainstream charts?
Fairytale was just an extraordinary song competing in Eurovision, it wasn't a song that wanted to satisfy and fit the typical mainstream audience. I am glad Germany won, but I don't wish to see more winners like Satellite in Eurovision again - the contest shouldn't be used like a doll to procude more for the mainstream industry. Many people find the contest special because it stands out from it.
Anyway, no one can deny that Fairytale was more successfull in terms of popularity than Satellite
I am happy.
SOme bizarre covers of Satellite: http://bit.ly/cREkx8
@Benny
Thanks a lot, I am glad you like it
I'm not that much into older contests, but still I appreciate a good music (mostly apart from the ESC, to be honest)
Good for her! I know many here aren't big fans of the song, but I adore it to pieces.
Dear Igor,
you have a nice profile and a similar taste in Music - I like it a lot.
Greetings to Serbia
She's at No 3 at MTV Serbia/Slovenia/Croatia chart as well
Lena deserves that success she was great !
but she is miles behind alexander rybak and his fairytale in terms of authenticity and music (personally i dislike alexander rybak as a person but he is in the top 5 best artists of this decade) and is quite of place to compare them..lena has a european hit that is heard all around europe.alexander won with a true song which was the best way to "restore" the contest in the eyes of the european (especially western european) viewers.
Rost, what about that pathetic Russian win.... "Believe"...really lost and forgotten, burried and hopefully never to be heard again....
Fantastic News
Well Done Lena
Rybak was like a a bomb!!
Lena's satts - just middle of the roat
Kind of thosese - come and go - quicky forgotten

Have fun Germany!
Finally a 'big 4' does it's job!! ))
LOLLLL

The " big 4" can do it!!
Reaallyyy???
Just SICK of it!!!
I like this song, but I'm really suprised it's been as popular as this!
Kelan, wasn't that the other way round? LOL
Lena's songs are brilliant. I am glad she won, even though I did not expect her to win (I thought that she would finish 2nd, behind Turkey).
Also glad because I think this is a small win for the UK as well. Why you ask - because Hanover (Lena's birthplace & home town) was ruled by British Monarchs between 1714 to 1837.
But anyway a great song won, and the contest was probably one of the best ever!!!
HUGE HIT.
Top 3 in Austria, not Top 10. Also #1 in Greek Digital charts.
Lenas new album "My casette player" is super..most of the songs brings me in a cosy mood
Go Lena for the worldwide and quality music. I would love to join a concert with her in Denmark..
All best wishes for her career
The album "My cassette player" has been released in the UK too on ITunes...let's hope it will now make the charts in the Uk too following her appearance on ITV's This Morning programme.
See who voted for Lena: http://bit.ly/avepPz
