Castings in August
Ukraine starts looking for 2011 representative
On 19th and 20th August, the "semi final" stage of the castings will take place and on 21st August, 50 acts will be chosen to move forward to the next round. Both experienced artists and newcomers are expcted to take part in the selection. During the castings, the contestants may perform any songs and the potential Eurovision Song Contest entries for the national final will be chosen in October.
In early September, a special TV programme will air showing how the 50 acts were chosen. In October, the chosen artists will perform their final songs and the top 20 for the national final will be determined. In the national final, the winner will be chosen by a mixture of jury voting and televoting. The show will be hosted by Tatiana Goncharova and Timur Mirushnishenko.
In 2010, Ukraine was represented by Alyosha, who finished seventh in the second semi final and tenth in the final with her song Sweet people.

Sorry, but everyone who claims that the Dutch or German team is better than the Spanish one doesn't know the first thing about football. (You are a newcomer yourself if I understood you correctly.) More entertaining, more spectacular, or more likeable perhaps (all that depends on individual taste) but better (football skills, ball possession etc.) ... no way! And the answer to your question is rather easy: Portugal and Paraguay are much stronger teams than Slovakia, England or Argentina, especially if we talk about the defense.

I agree that the Netherlands have a very good team and thus deserve to be in the final. Spain, on the other hand, probably has the best national team in the history of football right now, and thus everything but a Spanish victory would be a big disappointment for me!

I hope Vasyl Lazarovich won't come back. I don't like his voice and he represents a bit of a Ukrainian stereotype, I think.
What's the point of organizing sucha big a national final, when another one will be organised after the submission deadline when the eventual entry is the one that never even participated in the NF ? (Come on people, I am sure all of you were quietly gigling to yourselves when you read this article)
This year Ukrainian entry was one of the best, so underrated with ending only 10th.. She was so talented. I hope they will keep the tastefull style and not send the cheap pop halfnaked popsingers anymore

Ukraine is officially my favourite ESC country of the last 5 years. They always put on a great performance and i'm hoping for more of the same next year!

Yes, I loved Alyosha. And I saw her live at the Dutch concert and she is such a great performer.
Well at least they take it very serious... and I loved this year's song and especially her voice and performance.....
And no Marko, I do not want Eastern Europe to withdraw, but I am fed up with the attitude and voting paterns of Eastern Europe...
ukraine is one of mf my favourite ESC countries i can't wait!

Good luck Ukraine, I really liked Alyosha and IMO the 10th place really was deserved.
Let other countries send nice songs, I hope Ukrain to send next hot lady It will be much better "hot ladies" like the group "Viagra"
