Natasha St-Pier: French artists fear Eurovision
Natasha St-Pier, who reached the 4th place for France at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2001 does not hide the truth about the French presence at the contest. "Most artists only treat it as the gate to an international career", she said in an interview with Polish newspaper Vivafakt.
In an interview with Vivafakt, Canadian singer Natasha St-Pier made a clear statement about the French participants at the Eurovision Song Contest. "Prominent French artists avoid participating at the Eurovision Song Contest as much as they can. They are afraid of being associated with the pop mix presented at the contest."
However, the singer confirms that without taking part at the Eurovision Song Contest she would not have become a succesful and popular artist. "My performance at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2001 was the biggest chance I have ever been offered. I was an unknown artist and I really wanted to present myself in some way. I had two choices: a reality show or the Eurovision Song Contest. I chose the second option and obviously I made the right decision", says Natasha.
Natsha St-Pier finished 4th with the song Je n'ai que mon âme at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2001, after which she broke through in several countries, including Poland. Her latest album L'instant d'âprès reached the top 15 of the Polish album charts.
