News - 5 United Kingdom Finalists revealed | Eurovision Song Contest News - Germany 2011 

The five finalists of this years United Kingdom final Making Your Mind Up have been unveiled. Andy Scott-Lee, Gina G, Javine, Katie Price and Tricolore. The finalists will be introduced later tonight on the BBC1 programme Top Of The Pops.

As reported earlier today on esctoday.com they include former United Kingdom entrant Gina G and model Katie Price, (also known as Jordan). Joining them are Javine, Andy Scott-Lee and Tricolore. Andy Scott Lee After appearing on Pop Idol, and being part 3SL Andy Scott Lee has establish himself as a star in his own right. Andy is Lisa's brother, one of the members of former pop group Steps. Gina G Gina G is of course best known to Eurovision fans as the United Kingdom representative in 1996 with Ooh Aah Just A Little Bit which came eighth in the contest, but was a number one hit in the United Kingdom, and a big chart hit throughout Europe. Javine Javine was almost one of Girls Aloud, but became a solo artist instead with hits like 'Real Things' and 'Surrender'. Katie Price Model Katie Price (Jordan) is engaged to 1990's pop act Peter Andre. Peter has his own Eurovision connection as he composed one of last years entries in the Cypriot final. Tricolore Stuart Pendred, Jem Sharples and Scott Ciscon collectively make up the unique concert act Tricolore. They are three tenors, and could bring an operatic quality to their entry! The United Kingdom final Making Your Mind Up takes place on 5th March. It will be hosted by Terry Wogan and Natasha Kaplinsky. In addition to the five entries, the audience will be reminded of past winners, and reliving some classic moments from the 49 years of the competition. There will be a celebrity panel, that will take a look at what makes a Eurovision winner, what's hot and what's not this year in Kiev, as well as taking a look at the songs already selected by other countries. There will be seven celebrity spokespersons to announce the results of the nations votes, by telephone . With profits from the calls going to Comic Relief. As last year there will be a combined SMS/Interactive result for each act, reflected as a percentage share of the total vote. This means that nothing is certain until this vote has been announced. In addition for the very first time ever in BBC history, which includes all shows, not just Eurovision related, the BBC is going to show Making Your Mind Up as a webcast. This will enable web users across the world to vote for their favourite, and represent their views as actual points on the show. The BBC wants to know what the rest of the world, and in particular Europe, would vote for, and feels that this will be both fascinating and entertaining. The song titles and composers are expected to be revealed towards the end of next week, and the songs will be heard on a variety of programmes on British television over the coming weeks, as well as on the BBC website. Whoever wins on 5th March will represent the United Kingdom in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest on the 21st May in Kiev.
