Global Kryner to represent Austria

Tonight in Vienna, Jade Davies, Global Kryner, Mystic Alpin, Marque and Alf Poier competed for representing Austria at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, and Global Kryner won Song.null.fünf with the song Y así and will thus represent their country on 19th May in Kiev.
The selection of the Austrian song for the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest happened by SMS and televoting. The nine Austrian Bundesländer all awarded their points in Eurovision style. Votes cast by mobile phone and SMS represented a tenth vote. These are the results of the Austrian national final: 01 - 102 points | Global Kryner - Y así 02 - 98 points | Alf Poier - Good old Europe is dying 03 - 74 points | Mystic Alpin - One world 04 - 73 points | Mystic Alpin - Back home 05 - 54 points | Global Kryner - Dreaming 06 - 53 points | Marque - Who U R 07 - 51 points | Alf Poier - Hotel hotel 08 - 34 points | Marque - In the universe 09 - 22 points | Jade Davies - Just like that 10 - 19 points | Jade Davies - Perfect world Click here for audio snippets of the 10 songs of Song.null.fünf ORF's nightmare almost came true as Alf Poier constantly threatened to take over Global Kryner's first position in the ranking during the voting. In the end the band consisting of the six musicians, Sabine Stieger, Karl Rossmann, Christof Spörk, Anton Sauprügl, Edi Köhldorfer and Sebastian Fuchsberger could stand firm. Alf Poier received four points less than Global Kryner and has to be satisfied with a second place. Global Kryner will represent Austria in the semifinal of the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest on 19th May in Kiev.
