Forogj világ

NOX to Kiev for Hungary

With the song Forogj világ the group NOX has been chosen to represent Hungary at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest. Hungary participated for the last time in 1998 and reached a 23rd place with Charlie's A holnap már ném lesz szomorú.
The participants The following songs appeared on Eurovíziós Dalfesztivál tonight: Judy - Holnaptól Acapulco - Szép ez a világ Melodi Island - Eltűnt álom Chrystal - Összetört a szívem Emi Bizek - Túl az út felén Karányi - Álomszép Sushi Train - Húzz közel Baby Gaby és Lala - Van egy kulcs Rita Ambrus - Együtt NOX - Forogj világ Tamás Mester - Szabadítsd fel Lola - Szerelem After a break, a super-final took place with the four best songs according to the televoting audience. Judy, Chrystal, Baby Gaby és Lala and NOX were the lucky ones to sing again, now for a jury. The points of the jury decided the winner: 1. NOX - Forogj világ (49 points) 2. Judy - Holnaptól (43 points) 3. Chrystal - Összetört a szívem (36 points) 4. Baby Gaby és Lala - Van egy kulcs (33 points) NOX meets... NOX meets Ruslana, meets Urban Trad, meets Riverdance... was a many heard comment on several forums and message boards around the internet. The song Forogj világ (The world turns), with pop, rock and folk elements, has been written and composed by Szabolcs Harmath and Attila Valla. About NOX Lead singers of the group NOX are the 22-year old Szilvia Péter Szabó (left) and the 29-year old Tamás Nagy (right). In fact, NOX is much bigger than the maximum six people allowed on stage. For their Eurovision Song Contest adventure, the amount of dancers has been brought down. Urban Trad (Belgium 2003) faced the same problem as they had to leave two people at home. Semifinal As 'new' country, Hungary takes part in the semifinal of the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest, which takes place on 19th May in Kiev, Ukraine. To reach the final, NOX has to end up among the first ten.

Why is everyone so obsessed with this Ruslana? This genre is nothing new, and of course the traditional folk elements bear many similarities in European countries. It can nevertheless be done well. You don't go shouting at Metallica for ripping off the Rolling Stones, though electric guitars are present in both band's music, wow.

Mind you, Eurovision has never been about originality, either. This is a contest for popular music. If I want originality, I'll listen to Cage or early Legendary Pink Dots. For a pop song, Nox's entry may even be deemed experimental when compared to the other Hungarian entries. :)

TOO MANY SONGS WHICH SOUND THE SAME THIS YEAR.....

TOO MUCH ETHNO...... THE BEST ARE UK AND GREECE, BUT MAYBE IT IS TIME FOR A STRONG BALLAD LIKE MALTA AND HOLLAND

This year there will be plenty of a la Ruslana songs.
But I like those who are sung in the native language.
I am not againt English, not at all. But somehow I have got tired of
Baby, love you, cry, why, my etc.
Not a bad song from Hungary, but nothing very original neither.

Yes, it's sure a very good song. This year's Sanomi. I love it :) And they have to sing in their language. It's beautiful! By the way, Hungarian is an Ugric (Ugrian.. dunno) language (as Estonian) but I can't understand a word :) Funny. Still. I like it a lot I hope you will get at least 3rd place. You do deserve it!

Ulrik Sand;
Denmark is in the semis right? Norway too (I am half norwegian) and I think that Wig Wam has a chance to get us up there in the top ten this year, simply by looking the way they do I think :)
I really think that Hungary is one of the absolutely best songs this year, Hungary, Albania and Croatia are my favourites so far!

A very good choice, Hungary! :) It is indeed an interesting ear-catching mix of Ruslana (not so wilder) and Urban Trad type songs - which joins a vibrant tune with the ethnic touch that does so well in ESC. For now it stands on #2 ;)

Welcome back and... good luck, Hungary!
