Court of Ankara decides

Protest against Gülseren rejected

At the end of March 2005, Umran Akdokur, songwriter of Sen benim askimsin performed by the group Ariana in the Turkish national final, officially asked the court in Ankara to cancel the outcome of the Turkish national final. The court of Ankara today rejected the complaints against this year's Turkish Eurovision Song Contest entry Rimi rimi ley.
Umran Akdokur claimed that the song Rimi rimi ley, composed by Erdinc Tunc, was not matching with the requirements for participating in the Turkish national final, as set by the board of the Turkish State Television TRT. Together with her lawyer, Akdokur filed a complaint in which they claimed that the winning song Rimi rimi ley offended against the rule saying that a song must be "original, not used for commercial purposes and not broadcast before the Turkish national final." Furthermore they stated that Goksan Arman, the songwriter of Rimi rimi ley who is working for the TRT Grand Orchestra, is another contradiction to the entrance requirements issued by TRT. "Rimi rimi ley was not the favourite of the seven competing songs," Akdokur said. "It is not a song which the Turkish people appreciate or love. How is it possible that they are sending a song which is not accepted by the Turkish people to represent Turkey? Our songs are now known to be bad songs because of this winning song, and that hurts." The court of Ankara today rejected all complaints against this year's Turkish Eurovision Song Contest entry Rimi rimi ley. Nothing can stop Gülseren anymore to participate in the final of the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest on 21st May in Kyiv.
