Sunday 10th July in Bielefeld

Ira Losco support act of Elton John in Germany

Ira Losco, runner-up of the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest, will be on stage in Bielefeld (Germany) on Sunday. Ira and her band are the support act of Elton John, a milestone in the international music career of the Maltese singer.
The event to be held on Sunday 10th July in Bielefeld will be Sir Elton John's only stadium concert in Germany this year. As support act, Ira Losco will be having the opportunity to perform songs from her first album Someone else, released in April 2004, as well as brand new songs from her upcoming album. Ira Losco has chosen Germany to force an international breakthrough. Three weeks ago she already took the stage in Papenburg as support act of Ronan Keating and Nena. Meanwhile she keeps on working on her new album, scheduled for release towards the end of October. Ira Losco finished second at the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest in Tallinn with the song 7th wonder, written by Philip Vella and Gerard James Borg.

John Bonanno, you don't seem to understand. You accuse Edward Montebello of attacking Chiara and Grace Borg, while he only used words like "rude" and "big-headed". There's nothing wrong with doing that. It's no insult or attack. You seem to be oversensitive when you think those words are an attack at someone. Of course you are entitled to disagree with Edward Montebello, but the mere fact that you disagree doesn't mean that Edward Montebello is doing something wrong.

To sing for a country you need to visit it Andi don't set foot out of your own country! You know zip about Malta, it's people, it's language , it's culture, and I would be very surprised if the friend you have who is Maltese is a real friend and not an internet buddy. It's a song contest for God's sake hardly the thing nations go to war over - In parting I shall be cruel - You are a cripple who lives in an absolute filthy hovel that stinks from all all accounts. Dog crap on the floor, with rancid furniture, you look an absolute discgrace - and you have the audacity to call Chiara and Ira Losco - you are a jobless hopeless freak - Now I would never say those things normally but youthink you can just bandy insults around as if you are the Eurovision oracle - you have helped build collections - yes ILLEGALLY copying and downloading music - and that makes you a nice person ? - It doesn't it makes you a meglomaniac as well as all the other things, a person who calls a stranger a scrubber and a cow is not a nice person - look up meglomaniac in the dictionary.

ws actually it was edward montebello who called grace borg "rude" not me!

read here his words:

""Next year Malta can do well but I have my own doubts after a bad foul in my opinion by Grace Borg by being rude with other countries such as Romania and even Helena personally this came also from Chiara, she is only boasting now and being big-headed, I congrulate Chiara for her success and I support her but pls now stop being big-headed and think you are the one & only" - Edward Montebello

Ira Losco's first album was not "Someone Else" released in 2004 - far from it! Ira released an album in 2002 called "Butterfly" It featured many of the tracks that she tried to get in to ESC with plus a Claudette Pace single also from Song For Europe - So there!! It is much better than her latest album, I have both - Her latest one is good - but not quite AS good.

I think that john is a supporter of chiara and Edward is a supporter of Helena so the best thing is to change the subject.

Quote: there's nothing more to add to that. u have said it all:
calling Grace Borg - "rude"
and Chiara - "big-headed"; "thinks she's the one & only"; "is only boasting"

@ john bonanno: Are these rude bad words? Don't think so. You must be very sensitive to call this rude. Furthermore when you are this sensitive every discussion is impossible. There was nothing rude the way Edward Montebello reacted.

Dearest Mr. Montebello
I don't have any hidden agendas at all! It's only you who have such bad tempers and opened fire on two dearest persons - chiara & grace borg.

i am hereby quoting you directly (so as to avoid the MIS-INTERPRETATIONS):

"Next year Malta can do well but I have my own doubts after a bad foul in my opinion by Grace Borg by being rude with other countries such as Romania and even Helena personally this came also from Chiara, she is only boasting now and being big-headed, I congrulate Chiara for her success and I support her but pls now stop being big-headed and think you are the one & only" - Edward Montebello

But El Diablo, you don't seem to understand. This is the world wide web. You can save and anonymous be rude to anyone. If you are frustated in life, go on the internet an be rude. It makes your day.

Oh, and just to be sure: I was being sarcastic. (You never know).

i'm sure marie n is still around ... in latvia (checked the discography on her site and i found she's back to releasing cds in latvian, meaning she isn't quite treading international grounds)

however, it's been ages since i've heard any news about her on an international level and, let's face it, it's not like her 'i wanna' really made any impact on any big european country's charts

ira doesn't have anything to be jealous of marie n ... she made it to the german singles charts with the two singles she released this year and has been getting airplay on german radio stations

it's not how many ESCs you win that matters, but your success on an international level before and after that ... if you take Vanilla Ninja and Tatu for example, I'm sure they enjoyed more international success than most ESC participants so far

but anyway, andi musson, you have something against maltese singers ... now you can't say ira is a fat cow coz she's a gorgeous young lady ... you say she's talentless but i'm sure you haven't tried listen to anything from her except 7th wonder ... you say she sings cheesy ballads but i'm sure you don't know what you're saying coz her recent songs are anything but cheesy and anything but ballads

El Diablo [18540]
Thu 7 Jul 2005 02:33:47

well andi musson you can go on the website, listen to samples and judge for yourself

and well, if coming second is being a loser then i wonder what the ppl who place third or worse are for you

meanwhile, ira losco is still around and getting better while marie n seems to have disappeared into oblivion

I think Ira lost some of her support and she said that she will never sing songs like 7th wonder again.

ira losco said on XARABANK that if....and only if.....she tries her luck again for ESC...then it will be a song written and composed by herself in her own brit-rock-pop. "this is me and this is how i want the rest of europe to know me" - that's what she said!

About Ylenia she is 16 so she cant participate in the jesc. And please some are saying that chiara should accept her position in the esc and you are right, but please you also have to accept that she won the malta song for europe. There are some people that from the begining were and remain against her .And about Ira, philip said that Ira does not want songs written by him because she started to write her own songs.

Did Chiara really say that? Out of the two songs, Greece was the better (even though both were GREAT) and got its deserved position. How can she say that when Helena complimented her in her press conference after the show? Helena said some lovely things about Chiara and no performer should say they are better than anyone else - they'll make lots of enemies and they come accross snobbish and bigheaded. I still like CHiara, and I think she's got a great voice but there's no excuse for comments like that.

Btw. Helena wasn't out of breath, she sung perfectly in tune, held together a great dance routine and was a superb singer in a super song.

Also, have you noticed the year after Greece hosted the Olympics, they won ESC? Perhaps this is a sign that the UK will win in 2013! You never know!

I agree with Edward. I was so disgusted by what was being said on televison, especially by chiara. Because she did not win, she made a face and just like a little girl started excusing countires and people that they did not vote correectly. HOw could she have the cheek to say that SHE WAS THE REAL WINNER OF THE SHOW? she even bitched about Helena. saying she was fake, and that she had no voice cause she was out of breath when dancing. And that Helena only posed for pictures cause she wanted to be seen around with her (chiara). I think accepting a result is part of behaving like a winner and Chiara in my opinion failed miserably. I have nothing against her, though her song was not my favourite, but we should grow up and learn. we take this too seriously sometimes!
As to those who think Malta has no talented singers. you are very wrong. There are many, but maybe they have not been given the chance to represent their country yet.
