2nd place in Melodifestivalen but…
Nanne indisputable winner in Sweden
Nanne Grönvall who finished 2nd in the Swedish Melodifestivalen this year, with her entry Håll om mig has now sold more than 30 000 copies of her CD-single and has reached gold status in Sweden. Tomorrow, Nanne and Helena Paparizou will appear at a huge free-concert in the centre of Stockholm.
Nanne Grönvall become the people's choice with almost 200 000 more televotes then the jury favourite Martin Stenmarck at this year’s Swedish Melodifestivalen. Because of the jury vote, Martin Stenmarck become Sweden’s representative this year at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, finishing 19th. Unfortunately, Martin has also only had minor success on the Swedish charts with his Eurovision entry Las Vegas.
Håll om mig is the first single from Melodifestivalen 2005 to sell gold in Sweden. This is Nanne’s first major commercial success since 1998. On 7th October she will co-host the Swedish selection for Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Nanne Grönvall, as a member of the group One More Time represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1996 and succesfully finished 3rd with their entry Den Vilda.
Melodifestivalen stars giving free concerts
Tonight Alcazar, 3rd place this year in the Swedish Melodifestivalen will give a free-concert in the Stockholm suburb of Vantör, a place that has a quite bad reputation. It seems that local politicians put their hopes on Alcazar. A well-known band with an air of disco-glamour might be a good recipe in order to create a better public reputation for this suburb.
Tomorrow a commercial radio-channel invites all people in Stockholm City to a huge free open-air concert. The programme mainly consists of former Melodifestivalen participants but also this year’s winner at the Eurovision Song Contest Helena Paparizou. She together with Nanne Grönvall, Shirley Clamp, Jill Johnsson and BWO are only a few of the names performing tomorrow. People in Stockholm are indeed being spoiled with so much great Melodifestivalen concerts now given away for free!
