ERT: 'Televoting ánd jury at Congratulations'
The all-time Eurovision Song Contest winner, to be elected at Congratulations on 22nd October in Copenhagen, will be selected by televoters ánd a jury. ERT's executive manager George Houliaras said that moments ago.
14 songs will compete in Copenhagen and it seems the bookmakers have to re-consider their odds, as the jury is likely to have a 50 percent influence on the outcome.
The European Broadcasting Union didn't confirm this information yet, but the executive manager of the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest host broadcaster ERT seems to be a reliable source.
At the Eurovision Song Contest, the jury started to disappear in 1997, when televoting was introduced in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Austria, Switzerland and Germany. Until last year, juries were only accepted in exceptional cases, while back-up juries votes as well to give the points in case of technical problems with the televoting.
It's unknown if the come-back of the jury affects the Eurovision Song Contest as well. We hope to find an answer to this question in the upcoming days!
