Festival da Canção 2006

Portuguese songs are available on RTP website

For the ones who could not watch the Portuguese national final, the Portuguese Public Broadcaster company RTP put available on its website the videos of the 10 songs which competed at the Festival da Canção 2006.
You can watch the videos here. The voting of the 10 songs taking part at the 2006 Festival da Canção at the Lisbon Congress Centre was as follows (jury + televoting): 1. Nonstop - Coisas de nada - 12+10=22 points 2. Vânia Oliveira - Sei quem sou (Portugal) - 10+12=22 points 3. Cuca - As minhas guitarras - 7+8=15 points 4. Natalie Insoandé - Durmo com pedras na cama - 8+4=12 points 5. Lara Afonso - Alma nova - 6+2=8 points 6. Bruno Nicolau - Um dia direi - 5+3=8 points 7. Ricardo Moraes - Nunca mais te digo adeus - 3+5=8 points 8. Beto - O amor é uma fonte - 2+6=8 points 9. Maria Folia - Bem mais além - 1+7=8 points 10. Madison Lucia - Na noite és tu e eu - 4+1=5 points The outcome of the voting was a mixing televoting and jury. Once there was a tie between Vânia Oliveira and Nonstop, the girls band was declared winners for having received the maximum points from the jury. Because 2B came 17th with 51 points in the semifinal of last year in Kyiv, Portugal has to enter the semifinal of the 51st Eurovision Song Contest.

The portuguese selection is not that bad, but it won't make it for Portugal this year. Out of the songs that ran for the selection, there was only one that stood out from the rest as far as quality and performance: "Durmo com pedras na cama", sung by Natalia Isoande. Her warm, jazzy voice, along with the powerful words and brazilian melody in the tradition of Maria Bethania, make this entry the most interesting and BEAUTIFUL of all. It would have made us,europeans, STOP and think about what real music is about. Its only fault is the title... (I sleep with stones in bed) Very misleading! We could have had a real singer and a real song in a long long time!!

This has to be Portugal's worst entry to date. With such wonderful in Portugal, why choose something as bland and amateurish as this?

"Anyway, we won't get to the final once more... "
Filipe,
Don't be so sure about it... regarding the quality level of other songs this year, Portugal has, indeed, some chances! ;-)

Come on people, let's stop controversy and start to support the chosen song. Nothing that can be said or done will change the song we are sending, which must be improved to have better quality and acceptance. If voices are well coordinated, if there is rhytm and colour, and over all, if there is a huge support of Portuguese fans, we will be able to put this song on the final. If we don't pass, part of the fault will be ours, and we must rethink our participation in the ESC. But if we pass, and Portuguese people feel the emotions of receiving points and healthy competition, the wiewers will be insterested again next years.

All depends on NonStop... and on us!

Uhm...

LOL.. Just listened to quite a few songs for Eurovision this year.. and well lets just say..I am not impressed hehehe.. Thought the Portuguese song was bad..! Well Not anymore.. they are all quite rubbish this year, so to me the Potuguese song does not seem bad anymore, I reckon if they sing good on the night and better their dance moves and add a few extra bits to the song as its only 2 minutes 50 and also perhaps a bit more English they could do alright against the songs I have heard so far..!
The ones I have heard are the ones ahead on polls and the ones people seem to be talking about..!
And to be sincere they are not all that..!

The ones that I did actually think were OK were Belgium and well though its not been talked about much I like he UK's song too..

The Greek song that just came out is not too bad but not my cup of tea and the performance looked a bit over the top, did not seem as if she sang live...!

I really dunno about this year.. No one stands out as of yet, mostly rubbish songs..!

What are some people's rankings doing here, anyway? They're totally out of place.

Anyway, we won't get to the final once more... so if RTP is forever unable to get a great song, why bother anyway... the interest isn't much and it won't grow with this kind of commitment.

I usually don't like Portuguese entries, but this year's one as well as the 2004 ( Foi Magia) are very good. Pity Sofia didn't reach the Istnabul final
