Band keep breaking records
Lordi gathering biggest ever
Police estimate that the free concert in Helsinki's Market Square drew crowds in excess of 90,000 people. This smashes the figure for Finland's victorious hockey players who returned to Helsinki victorious in 1995, and were cheered by crowds of up to 30,000. Previously, Latin songstress Shakira had also drawn large crowds at an open-air concert in Kaivopuisto Park, but still with only 80,000 fans present, she comes in at second place to Lordi.
The event was also televised to an estimated one million Finns. The popularity of the show stands as proof of the continued sense of joy and pride at Finland's first Eurovision Song Contest win after 45 years of poor to mediocre placings.
