Eurosong for Kids

The Fireflies win Belgian semifinal

Rock band The Fireflies has won the second semifinal of Eurosong for Kids in Belgium. Together with Thor!, the winner of the first semifinal, The Fireflies directly qualified for Sunday’s Belgian national final. The three overall best scoring non-winners join them: Lizz@xy, Nicolas and Attic.

The results of the second semifinal:
1. 71 points: The Fireflies - Waarom?
2. 63 points: Nicolas - Ik wil je nooit meer kwijt
3. 57 points: Melissa - Hé jij
4. 55 points: Nikkie - Echte vrienden
5. 54 points: Arlieke - Waarom liet je mij daar staan

The Fireflies consist of bass player Moreno, guitar player Ben, and the brothers Sander and Brent, singer and drummer of the band respectively. The Fireflies are fans of Iron Maiden, Metallica, Dream Theater, Nirvana and more bands like these. Their Eurosong for Kids entry Waarom? (Why?) was produced by Paul Despiegelaere, also known as the producer of X!nk, the Belgian representatives at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003.

02. Nicolas - Ik wil je nooit meer kwijt
03. Thor! - Een tocht door het donker
04 The Fireflies - Waarom?
05. Lizz@xy - Ik doe wat ik wil

The final of Eurosong for Kids 2006 takes place on Sunday 1st October in the Congress Theatre of the Grenslandhallen in Hasselt. The venue is already sold out, good for 1.700 spectators!
