Gimmicks on stage?
Dmitry Koldun recording in Greece
Belarus has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest three times, debuting in 2004 in Istanbul - the year semi-finals were first used. Nevertheless, the country hasn't managed to proceed to the final. This year, Diana Gurtskaya, Dmitri "Dima" Koldun and The Project, the three winners of December's Eurofest, will compete at the Belarusian national final on Monday 22nd January to gain the ticket for Helsinki. Diana Gurtskaya, will sing How long; The Project S.U.P.E.R.S.T.A.R. . Dmitry's original submission, Get Up, was disqualified and he had to turn up with a new song.
Dmitry has just recorded his song, Work your magic', in Greece. It is composed by Philip Kirkorov, the Russian representative at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1995 with the song Kolibelnaya dlya vulkana (Lullaby For A Volcano, 17th place), and lyrics by Karen Kavaleryan. The song is reminiscent of na aria, not a typical genre for Dmitry's, as he is using to perform rock tracks. However, his team is sure that this composition is quite suitable for him.
The title of the song is a word-play with the surname "Koldun" which means ''magician'', and a stage presentation based on this is expected. Dmitry Koldun's team will prepare one more song and will submit both to the Belarusian jury, which together will select the final entry which will be performed at Eurofest selection on Monday 22nd January.
Last year in Athens Polina Smolova and her song Mum didn't manage to qualify to the final, so the winner of Eurofest will have to compete at the semifinal of the 52nd Eurovision Song Contest next May, 10th in Helsinki.

Well, well ... Dmitry Koldun ... recording his ESC song in GREECE!!!
I guess that ATHENS is indeed ESC Central
and THE place to "Work Your Magic"!!!
Great song!
Good luck to Belarus!
By the way, I still don't like that other Dima ....!!!!!!
i hope Belarus get a chance to pass semi this year.Good Luck
I really like Dmitry Koldun, I like his face and he has a great voice. also I dont see any similarities with Bilan (by the way I am a BIG fan of Bilan, I voted so many times last year for him) so I really hope Koldun is going to have a gret song and that Belarus will go for the first time in the final.
@Angelito n
kirkorov is not 100% armenian, i guess just his mother is an armenian.
anyway, that is an old story.
is he going to wear a skirt?
Yes, please, don't compare Dima Bilan with this Dima... Bilan is GREAT!!
Didn't know Kirkorov was Armenian, his name doesn't sound Armenian (?)
I've heard Diana's song, hope it wins, it's fab.
It seems that with that collaboration with Karen Kavaleryan, Filip Kirkorov is no longer ashamed of his Armenian origins :-)

Good luck to Dmitry and Belarus!
He has a better voice than the other Dima!
By the way, I became a fan of Philip Kirkorov about 2 years ago,
when he agreed to sing in a duet the original hit song of
GREECE'S superstar, Sakis Rouvas,
with the title "Se Thelo
San Trellos (=I want you madly)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=oHO5G2_CKO8 (GREEK version of duet)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=f8jBPCzcsV (GREEK / RUSSIAN version of duet)
What does it means "an aria"? I really hope Kirkorov will not transform Dima in a kind of "opera diva"... I think the song he won the national selection was very good. Dima is made for rock songs...!!
@ Fernando:
Corinnas song wasn't that bad, but it didn't fit her voice and style. A soul ballad would have been a better choice for her instead of a disco song.
I would like to see Diana Gurtskaya to win. It would be very difficult for her to go into the final, but she has a really good song ( which Corinna May hadn´t ). SUPERSTAR is horrible and Dimas song, Hmm, not so good, either.
So, send Diana Gurtskaya to Helsinki!!!
The songs at the Belarussia selection weren't all too good but Dima's was the the best
I think Belarus will choose Dima Koldun. His chances are high because he is going to submit two songs to the jury when the article is right while Diana and Project just present one. Seems a little bit unfair.
@ Eur O'Cat:
I agree with drusus. It was Angelicas horrible voice. The best moment was when just the backing vocals were singing. Song was quite nice.
@ Uli - it is not unfair this time cause all three finalists were able to change their songs, not just one act. Dima decided to do so, which was the right decision IMO. Let`s simply wait for the new song before saying something about his chances at the ESC. Kirkorov knows how the ESC works and Dima can sing, so its not a bad compination.
The Angelica act was something different : song and even performance weren`t that bad, though the voice was.
I hope there will be many gimmicks and a catchy song so that there`s at least a chance to qualify after so many tries.
Paul:
Kirkorow was very active in Team Agurbash as well, and that didn't help much, did it...? I wish Belarus would try a good song and a solid performance instead of a lot of hocus pocus...
The Project with S.U.P.E.R.S.T.A.R.!!
In general, I'm a friend of ballads, but How Long is so boring...
Dima Koldun's first song was cr*p, but I'm still wondering why the Belarussian entries who pass the semifinals are changing their entries... Angelica Agurbash even did that when she had won...
I think that's very unfair because public and jury had chosen the singer also by judging his song...
i hope Diana wins because Belarus havn't realy tried a simple but effecive ballad yet and for all they know it could pull them through to the final, frankly none of those entrants could win eurovision, tih ink its more about getting to the final this year, so i say send the ballad
wow phillip kikrkorov is going to bring a lot of votes!!! maybe it is the first time belarus is going to go the final. By the way Koldun has a great voice, lets hope for a great song as well.
