Marija Sestic to represent Bosnia- Herzegovina

During a Press conference given by the Public Broadcasting Service of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PBS BIH) has been annoucned that Marija Sestic will represent the country at the 52nd Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki.

Yesterday esctoday.com has announced that Marija Sestic was tipped to be the Bosnia Herzegovina's representative at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest. Indeed today in a press conference the Public Broadcasting Service of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PBS BIH) has announced her as the one to succeed Hari Mata Hari as the country's representative.

The song title is not announced but authors are going to be Aleksandra Milutinovic & Goran Kovacic. The press conference ended with a pleasant surprise. Marija Sestic sang and played piano.

Thanks to Hari Mata Hari's 3rd place finish last year in Athens with the song Lejla, the best result ever for Bosnia Herzegovina in the contest, Marija Sestic will have to compete directly at the final on 12th May 2007.

national key is not really so important anymore. maybe marija really deserved to sing in helsinki, think that bosnian esc team knows the job...don't think that they choosed her just for the sake of that stupid national key...look at last year with hari...great...and all country suported him and song...both entities...and the result was best ever...so, let's hear the song and then we'll see...they said it will be ballad, nice one, even it will be similar to lane moje and lejla...composers told that's our music here, and it's not bad to go with that kind of songs...they wrote songs like ''kao so u moru'' and ''karta za jug'' for aleksandra radovic, which are great songs, so, let's expect something good for marija too.

I don't believe in all this with bosniak, serb and croat thing
If u look at the history of B&H serbs have only been representing B&H once!! and i'm counting from 2001.

2001 Hano Nino Pršeš - Bosniak?
2002 Na jastuku za dvoje Maja Tatić - Serb
2003 Ne brini Mija Martina - Bosniak?
2004 In The Disco Deen - Bosniak
2005 Call Me Feminnem - Croat
2006 Hari Varešanović - Bosniak
2007 Marija Sestic - Serb

And now if u look at all theese artists how bosniak, serb and croat are they really??
Do u really think that they care?? I don't care what i'am, I'm from B&H and so it means that i'm Bosnian.

Edin, I think it's nice to choose a relatively unknown artist sometimes. Most of our biggest artists aren't really famous outside of Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, and Macedonia - and they're not really famous for their singing in Slovenia and Macedonia, they're just famous because... they're famous. So for more of Europe, everyone we send is pretty anonymous.

It creates less problems with voting also. You remember last year, how upset some people were that the South Slavic countries voted for Severina with Moja Stikla. They just don't understand who Severina is to the people of the former Yugoslavia, they don't know about Seve-nacionale or any of this. So to them it just looks like we're voting for an annoying song but, for us, we're just supporting one of the most famous Croatian artists that ever lived.

So I think Marija Sestic will be a good choice. It's nice too when they choose people who aren't extremely nationalist. Marija Sestic entered a music talent contest in Zenica, for God's sake. I'm Bosniak and I'm afraid of Zenica! Just going there shows some courage and a strong, good person. Same with Zeljko Joksimovic including Mostar on his tour - that's really nice, to me, to see artists pushing right into the places where they're stereotypically least welcome.

Selma Bajrami played in Cacak, Tinka Milinovic is planning her first-ever concert in Serbia. These are all really good things and I have a lot of respect for artists, like Marija Sestic, who are involved in these developments.

She's very attractive...hmmm...if only I was younger...and richer...and better-looking...and Bosnian. Oh well.

I hope she has a voice to match her lovely looks. We've seen a few cases in recent years where some young female performers' looks outdo their singing by some margin. Let's hope that's not the case for Bosnia-Herzegovina.
