Now live: third Finnish semi final

The third Finnish semi final is taking place right now. Another three singers are presenting two songs each and the favourite song of each artist will be chosen to move forward to the final round. The winning songs will be chosen by televoting. A webcast of the show, which is working perfectly and is in good quality, is available (see below).

Euroviisut 2007

Twelve artists chosen by YLE and the music industry will each perform two songs in the four semi finals and televoting will send the best one to the final in Turku on 17th February. The four semi finals, each with three artists and six songs will be held in Tampere at the Tohloppi TV studios while the final will move to Turku’s Karibia like last year. This selection method was used for the first time in 2006 and proved successful not only because it brought Finland its first victory but also gave birth to several domestic radio hits besides Lordi’s huge success on sales.

Webcast / satellite information

A webcast will be provided here.

Satellite information:

YLE1, YLE 2: Sirius 3 (5.0E) - 11862.00 V / 27500 3/4 (encoded)
YLE1, YLE 2: Thor 3 (0.8W) - 12054.00 H / 28000 3/4

The songs

You can listen to the songs here.

  1. Johanna Kurkela - Olet uneni kaunein
  2. Kentala - Merry-go-round
  3. Lovex - Anyone anymore
  4. Johanna Kurkela - Jossain metsäin takana
  5. Kentala - Left my heart behind
  6. Lovex - Wild and violent

You can find the complete line-up of the four semi finals and the songs that already have qualified here.

Finland won the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 2006 with Lordi and Hard rock hallelujah.

@ Graham : I'm on Telenet in Belgium.
But I just saw on Oikotimes that the results are already in ???
So I'm guessing the show is over already and the livestream has now switched to radio...

I'm having problems with the livestream too... the links provided - even the one on the YLE site - gives a livestream of Yleisradio Oy :S

Guess I'll just go grab myself some drinks and something to nibble and get ready for Melodifestivalen... provided that webcast goes wel :-/

Well, Lovex's Anyone Anymore was the best by far, imho...

(It was funny, for those who don't speak Finnish, in that interval thing with Simo Frangen when they asked people in the street what's the best ESC song ever, nearly eveyone said Lordi's song... well, what else can you expect Finns to say... ;) :))

1st semifinal: Hanna Pakarinen
2nd semifinal:Katra
3rd semifinal: Johanna Kurkela
Watching finnish tv, makes me wonder: "why have I returned to Italy (the worst european country)
and not stayed in Finland?"

I hope Lovex doesn't go to Eurovision because both of their songs are bad! Johanna Kurkela really impressed me with her songs and performances. Kentala is neither here nor their.

Kentala's "Left My Heart Behind" is so far the best entry in the Finnish semi-finals; Johanna Kurkela's "Jossain Metsäin Takana" is sweet, but perhaps not for ESC 2007. I hope Finland will choose a good, un-Lordi song for this year.

The webcast is absolutely perfect for me (I'm in UK), in fact the best I've seen so far in any country's webcast...

I wanted to see this mainly for Lovex, to see what's the hype, and their 1st song at least seemed to me worth the hype... (Although I don't like the teenage girls screaming for them in the background most of the time ;))
