i think the way they have chosen is very smart, allocating a style of music to each tv station and they find two to match
but maybe next year just have it that each station picks two songs that must fit certain types, not giving one station one type to choose, but still a goodand different method showing unity between the french tv and france itself

The French final is set on March 5th at 8.50 p.m CET on France 3. The show will be hosted by Julien Lepers from France 3 and Tex from France 2. Julien Lepers is also tipped to comment the ESC from Helsinki along with Vanessa Dolmen.

Why did you erase this message twice - and probably a third time now ? The news have been officialy published in the French medias. If you want to inform people, at least do it right ! ;)

Well I tried to find some information on the less known artists :

*Valérie Louri is a singer from Martinique, in the French West Indies. She does a kind of "ethnic" music. To hear some of her former songs, go to http://rastakilla.fr(...)php?rub=discographie

*Estelle Lemée seems to be an amateur singer who sings in some galas in little towns in France. I guess she will sing a typical French ballad and that it wouldn't do better than Virginie Pouchain.

*Charlotte Becquin is an actress.

*I guess BZR ft. Cheb Hamid will be a rai (arabic influenced) or rai & rap mixed song.

*Jennifer Chevallier is a newcomer singer. She was in various musicals such as "Les 10 Commandements". She has an interesting voice and some songs I could hear from her are interesting. I hope she will have the same songwriter as these 2 songs :
KO http://www.fredcolas(...)1C-25D9A6F33403.html
Le contraire de l'autre http://www.fredcolas(...)61-ADF78FCA85DC.html

I found no information about the other newcomers.

To remind you who are the established artists in the selection, here is
*Les Wampas "Rimini" their latest hit http://www.youtube.c(...)/watch?v=bVNus7r4CLs
*Les Fatals Picards "Mon père était tellement de gauche" live http://www.youtube.c(...)/watch?v=EjKfw10J3WU

Jennifer Chevallier seems the more promising for me, if Fred Colas has written her song!

Good luck to my country :)

Oh and the name of the french selection this year is "Et si on gagnait?" that is to say "And if we won?" hehe

@Martin Lück

In fact, France tries to become 'typically french' once more, but far too much. Les Fatal Picards or even Les Wampas are clearly not fitting the Eurovision Standards, and i guess, are sent here in purpose. These are 200% franco-french groups, hence i doubt they'll score well - their style is far too 'original' for Eurovision.

If this wasn't Eurovision, i'd have applaused. But now what to do but laughing at Berberes' and France Télévision's new inspired motto "Et si on gagnait". No need to wonder what would happen, it's clearly not for this year...

Lithuania... or Iceland also: "Vote for your hero, that's what you must do"... after some unsuccessful years France appears a little desperate in trying to avoid being "typically French" again.

Faut voter pour nous....I know I speak french but it doesn't take a genius to work out what that means, Lithuania 2006 anyone?
