Cvet z Juga to Helsinki for Slovenia
Alenka Gotar wins EMA!
Before the voting finished, Katrina (without her Waves!) performed her Eurovision winning song Love Shine a Light, as well as Walking on Sunshine, and there was an operatic, Slovenian-language parody of three Eurovision winners, Ein Bisschen Frieden, Waterloo and Rock Me. After the final two had been chosen, Hari Varešanović of Hari Mata Hari performed his song Lejla, which placed third at last year's Eurovision Song Contest in Athens. Earlier in the programme, the Finnish ambassador to Slovenia joked with the presenters about how her five-year-old son had "brainwashed" her into being a Lordi fan!
As last year's Slovenian entrant Anžej Dežan did not reach the final, Alenka will compete in the semi final on 10th May in Helsinki.
The order of the songs

- Zlati Muzikanti - Pepelka
- Dean Vivod & Tonus Kitaris - Hitmejker
- Nude - Element L

I have just heard this song for the first time and i'm blown away! it is definitly the best song so far this year and it should be in the final no probs!
Hello Slovenian friends, I've fallen in love with your song listening to it with closed eyes. It just takes me away... Whatever result you will get, I will be listening to this song for years for sure... 12 points from Turkey.. good luck..
thank you slovenia!
you make me happy.
Bravo Slovenia. Excellent choise. High quality deffinitely. If the singer can do it in the final night then everything is possible.
I don't see this qualify...but best of luck anyway.
I like it! But well, I loved Omar Naber's song, and also Anjez Dejan... and they didn't pass it, so... Anyway, my best lucks to Slovenia this year.
Nicki Supporter...he should be ignored, he's got his own taste for trashy songs and everything that is a little more original sounds bad to him. We have a good song this year, something different and won't let anyone spoil our happines about it.
...well there's always a critic !
Im sure if there was a problem with the entry the folks in charge of proceedings would have sorted it out by now.
Wasnt 'Controversy' a song by Prince ? If I remember correctly the video for that was filmed in a church. But now we are getting off track.
Ive managed to score a DVD copy of the performance. ...now that is a kind person....
This song could really be the surprise of the evening : It has EUROVISION written all over it and yet it's somewhat different, it's ethnic, there's some Greek influence, it's opera but still very much a Slovenian entry (Balkan Beat!!!)
Go For it Slovenia!!!
My Top so far:
1. Estonia
2. Moldova
3. Belarus
4. Poland
5. Slovenia
6. Malta
7. Albania
Super-beautiful song!!!
Cheers Urska. Im into the contest because Katrina (Leskanich) got me interested in it. So blame her.
There is actually a HUGE 'underground' following of the contest here in Australia. We just love our music !
It was great to hear (and see) the song, but I dont think it should be translated as it would take away the beauty of it. But on the other hand, how many folks in the Eurovision Song Contest would actually vote for a song they dont understand the lyrics for ? So I guess its a problem really. On one hand, you need to hear the song in its original native language to hear the true beauty of it, on the other hand, an English version may reach more people.
Wonderful song!
1. Slovenia
2. Poland
3. Malta
4. Belarus
5. Moldova
6. Estonia
7. Albania
Very nice indeed! With good choreography this song can go far.
It's time for Slovenia to go to final!!
The best selected song we've heard so far!
I think this song is better then one that won!

live version is much more powerful!
I am sure they will bet on emotional and powerful performance in Finland! Alenka also promised that she is going to sing Slovenian anthem in main square in Helsinki. Alenka speaks 8 languages: German, English, Croatina, Italian, Latin, Swiss German, French and Slovenian! She is very talkative and likable! She has got many awards and is quite famous ascross the Europe. Her victorious song "Cvet z juga-Flower from the south " remebers her on spending holidays on Croatian coastline and adriatic see where she met Andrej Babić(author of the song).
Vladimir, it is time that Bulgaria qualifies and all other countries that haven't seen the final in last 3 years. Good luck!
Good luck Slovenija
I hope both Bulgaria and Slovenija to the final
Mr Nobody and Stop were not as special as Cvet Z Juga is, that why they were not qualifying! I am sure they will prepare magnificent performance for Helsinki and I am positive that this year Slovenia has huge chances to qualify, I was in doubts last three years but not this year, we don't think about winning the competition, because we are avare of political voting and ignoring Slovenia, but at least final that is what we are going to achieve this year!
I really enjoyed the Slovenian entries of the past two year and I was very surprised that they didnt qualify. This year's song is not as good as Mr Nobody or Stop but much better than the rest of the other semifinal entries so far.
Somehow I have the feeling that this ESC year hasnt started well. I havent enjoyed any song so far and I am glad that all of them are in the semifinals. Lets hope for something better from the already qualified countries.
aj, thanks to you, great to see someone from Australia is interested in Slovenian national final, hope you have been able to watch the contest on that page of RTV Slo, I couldn't because I don't have Real Player since I have Vista Windows, but I have been watching the contest twice on tv, just wanted others who couldn't watch on tv having a chance to see it also. Greetings from Slovenia.
I dont think that this song will benefit being translated to english. It is so fabulously dramatic! I love it!
So far. Out of the countries that have chosen their song for this year; My 12 points are for this song!... Fenomenal. Definitly will get trought the SemiFinal!... Hope to see you may12!...
Ahh, thanks again guys. I dont suppose anyone recorded it on TV ?
And if you wanna see the VIDEO of het performance ..
Here it is (good quality) !!

Beautiful song - however, it's a beautiful Western song. Slovenia, once again, won't make it past the semi-final. It's former Yugoslav neighbors won't push it through to the final because the song is too "bland" and "Western" to appeal to them, and Western Europe once again won't vote for Slovenia but will yell at us for not doing so - just like last year.
