Malta decided
Olivia Lewis wins by a landslide
Olivia Lewis, born in 1978, has been participating in the Malta Song for Europe since she was 14. She started as a backing vocalist and two years later, at the age of 16 took part for the fisrt time as a soloist. Since then she has been trying contstantly to get to the Eurovision Song Contest. Since 2004 she kept missing the first place for a few votes until she finally made it tonight.
Olivia is a thoroughbred festival singer having participated in more than most of her colleagues. Apart from her 13 tries for the Eurovision song Contest ( some years with more than one song), she also took part in the Malta Jazz festival, and in many international festivals in the UK, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Serbia and Montenegro, Kazakstan and many others. She placed first in the Lithuanian and Bulgarian festivals and second in the Kazakstan festival.
With more than 23.000 votes than the second act, Trilogy who got 7.647 votes, and the third, Klinsmann Coleiro who got 7.550 votes, Olivia seems to have the whole of Malta supporting her.

the quality of tyhe song i have heared was not so well on eurosong.be so maiby i must wait when i hear the song on the radio or on television ,she sid she will visit belgium so i am glad
i ll hope the rtbf will send also a good song (like urban trad in 2003) and hope for a new victory for belgium or netherlands with edsilia
Go Malta....by far and away my fave song so far........................7 down 35 to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I would like to answer to ‘Hans van Costenoble’ (see quote at the end) that the Capital City of Malta is not ‘La Valletta’ but Valletta, and if we win the ESC(hopefully), it will not be held in Valletta for sure because there is no space to host such event (unless you want the maximum number of audience about 1000) Therefore probably it would be hosted at Ta’ Qali (Mosta). And you still have the Chance to vist Malta next may!!!
I wanted to go to La Valetta in 2008 but my chances are ruined with that song!!! It's not BAD but it's not GREAT either and it won't make a big impact in Helsinki.
Too bad
This year we have a good song and a strong 'package' we still need to improve some small things and I think we are ready to bring the ESC to the Mediterranean once again. We also need to make the best promotion ever better the last year’s and also we learnt from the Lordi via Internet.
olivia's song is great and i think that she will make it to the finals in finland. it is different from the songs that represent malta. in fact, i think that this is why it was chosen from 56% of the maltese public. what about her strong voice? it is lovely. i think that vertigo is a strong song, olivia has a strong voice, all malta needs is a strong performance, a little bit better we had in malta. good luck olivia and wish her all the best
So finally heard the song, and i dont agree with some of you here. I think this song will do very well in Finland. The music takes inspiration from different cultures and bring it together. Im sure, with some re production, Malta will strike high points from countries like Spain, Israel, all of Balkan and Turkey. The "pop" countries might feel the song a bit to strange, but it will for sure be enough.
For me its a really good song.
Who knows what Malta can do... "The one that I love" wasn't a great song but the performance is one of the best ones in Eurovision history. On the other hand... what happened to Fabrizio last year? Maybe the song wasn't that good, but the performance was terrible.
One it's shure, Malta will not win and possibly they wont make it in the final.
Interesting song, very nice and unusual rhythm but I didn't like Olivia's voice that much.
I definitely believe that Malta should win soon.... I hope it's this year... maybe???
Good luck Malta!!
Well, it seems it is no song to leave people indifferent... Either you love it or you don't like it at all. As for me, I don't see it as a winner and I'm even afraid Malta won't get to the final, which would be sad for me as I love Malta! This song sounds so ordinary to me. I was hoping Claudia would make it. Anyway, good luck Olivia!
Brilliant song
Easily the best one chosen so far, although i do have a big soft spot of Moldova.
Good choice Malta!
I am sure Europe will agree with me

everybody is crazy about the song! why am i not?
It's so uncredible and unexpectable for Malta to choose this song. So mystical, oriental, and... GREAT!
This song is ok but it wont win. Sorry Malta.
My ranking so far :
1.Belarus
2.Slovenia
3Albania
4.Malta
5.Estonia
6.Moldova
7.Poland
everyone says that the more you listen to the song the better it sounds, well remember that the semi final is when most of europe will hear it for the first time so thats not a good thing to say. once heard easily forgotten
Sorry Malta.... I guess the song is ok, but really I don't think this song will make a big impression in Helsinki. I am not sure it will qualify for the final.
MY COMMENTS!
I think Malta has made a great decision by choosing Vertigo! It is a wonderful song, and I am sure that it will do very well in Helsinki. Powerful music, and interesting lyrics, and the voice ot the artist make it very special. I loved it from the first time I heard it. Watched it on the internet, and have to say that the perfomrance on stage was very good too. 12 points from me, and all my friends here in sweden.
Malta will sing twice in Helsinki!!! Amazing song!
malta wil sing twice in helsinki. go malta go for gold.
@Thodoris
I'm glad u changed your opinions on malta!
I wanted to go to La Valetta in 2008 but my chances are ruined with that song!!! It's not BAD but it's not GREAT either and it won't make a big impact in Helsinki.
Too bad
Very good song, I'm very positive that it will do well in Helsinki!
The studio version of the song is much much better than the live performance I saw in problematic webcast last night - the first time I was able to understand the lyrics due to the sound...
I've to say the more I listen to this song the more I like it. I like this entry more than the three entries of the German preselection the Germans (inccluding me) are "allowed" to vote for. Actually, SCAR's "As Long As You Know" and Pamela's "All About A Life" were my favourite songs.
Ir-risq it-tajjeb, Olivia!
My ranking atm:
1.Malta
2.Slovenia
3.Belarus
4.Moldova
5.Estonia
6.Poland
7.Albania
Sorry, I don'l like this song at all.
