The list of the 10 acts who will be partipating in this year's Festival RTP da Canção is now complete. Eight song titles have been announced so far but the rest are soon to follow. The Portuguese final is scheduled for March 10 at the Sala Tejo of the Atlantic Arena in Lisbon.

The complete list of performers and producers (in brackets), is as follows:

Teresa Radamanto - Ai de quem nunca cantou [Fernando Martins]
Marta Plantier ft.  Os Corvos - Piano piano [Luís Jardim]
Edmundo e Filipa Cardoso - Desta vez [Nuno Carvalho]
Triburbana - Dá-me a lua [Luís Oliveira]
Luís e A Lata - Aipode [Elvis Veiguinha]
Zé P. - A Ilha [José Cid]
Diogo T. - Chega... foi demais [Ramón Galarza]
Vanessa and Henrique Feist - Nas asas de um sonho [Nuno Feist]
Raquel - song to be announced soon [Emanuel]
Melo D. ft. Elaisa- song to be announced soon[João Barbosa]

As esctoday has reported earlier, the show will take place at Sala Tejo of the Atlantic Arena on 10th March and is going to be hosted by Isabel Angelino and Jorge Gabriel, but there might be more hosts as it happened in last year's show. The winner will be selected entirely by televoting, which will last around 30 minutes.

Portugal is going to take part in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest semi final on 10th May in Helsinki, Finland.

But after having talked enough about Nelly Furtado.... Which artist that actually take part in Festival da Cancao do you prefer? I love portuguese music, but none of these artists is saying me that much. It would be nice of you to give me some information.

@Xana Oom
Yes I know I talked about her third album. In case that anyone got the impression I wouldn't like Nelly Furtado: I like her very much, her second album was amazing and I still like her as a person, it's only that her third album "Loose" isn't my taste at all.

It's really not worth speculating until it happens, but it's not worth using Nelly Furtado's new album as an example as it is targeted at the US market. If she ever entered Eurovision, she may very well return to her old style or even sing in Portugese.

Nelly Furtado has songs in portuguese language and in portuguese style, especially on her 1st and 2nd albums.....

@Aleksi DC: you're completely right, the entries you named have no relationships to the countries they represented. But exactly that's what should (at least in my opinion) NOT be. And Portugal is one of the last countries that often send songs with a cultural portuguese background. Nelly Furtado wouldn't be a bad choice, but she won't take part. Apart from this, you can't compare a football championship with ESC. And have you ever heard her sing live? Her vocal performance is rather weak, Portugal has really better voices. In my opinion, Portugal should open Festival da Cancao to singers from other portuguese-speaking countries like e.g. Brazil or Cabo Verde.

I don't think sending Nelly Furtado would be unrealistic. If she's willing to do it (didn't she sing the theme song to the European Cup in 2004?) and Portugal is willing to spend the money, then what's stopping them? And in response to those who say that her new songs have nothing to do with Portugal WAKE UP!!! Are you seriously saying that the entries by Sertab, Helena Paparizou, Vanilla Ninja, Marie N or Kate Ryan had anything to do with the countries they were representing?

@ Melina, if you thought he was good looking i would get my eyes tested asap if I were you.

And the comment you made about how europe voted was simpley ridiculous. Eastern Europe voted how they felt...as well as all the Armenian immigrants in Western Europe such as France and Belgium but the res of Europe voted quite rightly so for Belgium.

if only Portugal was not a country with a clear musical culture, i would have understood their failure for so long at this contest. But knowing its potential, it's a SHAME that Portugal never managed to win the contest.

2007, the year of Portugal ? After Finland, would sound 'logical' ;) GO PORTUGAL !!!

@ Melina
Belgium in 2006 deserved a final spot much more than Armenia. You say that calculated and polished is bad, I find it proffesional. I'd rather see proffesionalism than some amateurs.
I don't say that Armenia had the worst song, it was OK, but to say that act was better than Belgium. Well offcourse is a matter of taste, but personally I wouldn't say it was better in any aspect.
That Armenia got through to the final was something I excpected, but the high position in the final, I think it was beginners luck a little bit.

Poor Belgium actually. In 2004 they had one of the best songs and also in 2006, but both of them failed. I guess in 2004, the big competor was Ruslana, and people saw some similairity and voted for the stronger one. In 2006 it was just a schock... I mean LT United and Turkey got to the finals instead... that says it all that 2006 was a crazy year.

@La Pêche Wesh: "Look at Belgium last year. A good catchy, well performed and well sung melody by a good singer whihc hit the whole of Europe before the contest. Yet it was beaten by a crap song, sung out of tune by a grotesque fat guy from Armenia..."
The guy wasn't fat at all, actually he was quite good-looking... And as for Belgium, I think the act seemed to many just a bit too calculated, polished to the limit, just to get as much points as possible but wuthout any real feeling at all, so Europe voted as they felt... And rightfully so.

@La Pêche Wesh!
First of all, you can call Andre anything you like, but it's ridiculous to call him fat. I think he deserved to be in the final, because the song was nice and he put so much effort in the it's performance. I was really sorry for Kate Ryan not going through, because the song was great and I liked the performance.

And I forgot to add: The songs Nelly Furtado sings at the moment on her Album "Loose" have NOTHING to
do with Portugal. Unfortunately she forgot her roots and preferes crappy HipHop.

Nelly Furtado??? I think I don't have to tell you how unrealistic this is. And a great name isn't everyting.
By the way in my opinion Portugal has much better and moree talented singers than her.

I agree with the whole Nelly Furtado idea. But Eurovision (sadly) doesn't work that way. You could give her as much publicity as possible, she still wouldn't win. Look at Belgium last year. A good catchy, well performed and well sung melody by a good singer whihc hit the whole of Europe before the contest. Yet it was beaten by a crap song, sung out of tune by a grotesque fat guy from Armenia....

I always wish that the Portuguese do well. They were next in line to Finland to win. It's they're turn now.

Portugal could win easily if they axed the national final, and used the money to hire Nelly Furtado (she has Portugese roots) instead. Get her a good song, a video onto MTV, and plenty of pre-contest promotion and you've got yourself a winner.

once again: good luck portugal! even if you send a song of great quality, you will need it (remember 69, 71, 76, 84, 91, 96, 03? ... why didn't those songs finish in the top 3?).
i would still love to see mariza or cristina branco on the esc stage, singing 'contre une culture plastifié' (quote c. branco). sadly enough this won't happen. the national final, however, sounds promising: i know teresa radamanto and henrique feist and like both.

It's time for Portugal to select a great entry and win ESC or at least finish in the top10. C'mon after Finland's victory now it's your turn
