Verka Serduchka

Dancing Lasha Tumbai

Ukrainian song title change

The title of the Ukrainian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 has been changed from Danzing to Dancing lasha tumbai, as confirmed on the official website, eurovision.tv

The original lyrics of Danzing caused controversy when the singer was heard to be singing "Russia goodbye" - something that her management has since denied, saying it was in fact "lasha tumbai", which was claiemd to be Mongolian for "whipped cream". However, after popular lyrics site diggiloo.net checked with Mongolian translators, it was confirmed to be not Mongolian at all! So what the official lyrics are meant to say for this part of the song remains a mystery.

It seems that Verka will sing "lasha tumbai" instead of "Russia goodbye" in Helsinki, and other parts of the lyrics will be changed too. Last year the Ukrainian entry also had a full lyric makeover before appearing in Athens as Show me your love, despite having won the Ukrainian national final as I am your queen. It worked however, as Tina Karol ended 7th in Athens, meaning that Verka Serduchka is directly qualified for the final in Helsinki.

i know i must be ashamed of myself but i like it a lot better than most of the boring entries this year and when i watch the video, i just laugh and laugh :) a space-drag in a circus hahaha !!! think this one was made on purpose to tell the people to what level the esc has come and actually he's making fun of us as responsibles for this lol

what a piece of rubbish! distasteful and pathetic!

I watched, on BBC, some people in the Ukraine burning an effigy of Verka .... Actually, I would be tempted myself! she's embarrassing!

Ukraine and Israel ... some of the worst songs in the history of eurovision!

An instant hit, Verka's song is genius no matter what language it is sung in. I love it as it is so i hope it doesn't change too much.

totally tasteless!
perhaps only good after several drinks among low quality people!
Enough is enough with the drag queens already! Dana Int'l did it in 1998 !

chi chi ... he says "I want you see", not "I want to sing". anyway, it's a rubbish song that will do very well in the contest. you know there are thousands of crazy people out there.

Hi guys,

I'm ukrainian I must say that nobody here likes that 'song'. Verka is a popular character among "rather-old" people from 45, especially while at a drunk party. I believe noone has voted for him and dunno how coud he win the Ukrainian contest.

It's a real shame...

This song is a good and catchy song. Ukraine takes it nice and easy this year and it is fine. What is the big deal? Some of you are so BOOORING and you don't know how to loosen up.
Like Verka says you need to DANCE a bit. What was she supposed to be singing about world hunger, wars, politics, inequlaity, diseases, climate change????
You people need to get out more.
I love this song.

I don't think that it will be "Russia goodbye", but more probably: "... and 12 points from Ukraine to to .... Russia".

Who cares if they change the title, better Ukraine had change the performers and their horrible song, if it is a song!?! Kiev withdraw, its not too late yet! Your country has surely more to offer than this nonsense.

Owen, perhaps they thought it was Mongolian? Maybe it's bad researching or bad choices on their part rather than lying.

And i don't think it sounds anything like he's saying 'Russia Goodbye' and if it is, it's not even that political. The whole song just doesn't make any sense!
