Top of the Pops 2

BBC Plans Euro Special

The BBC is planning a Eurovision-themed special edition of its music programme Top of the Pops 2, it was revealed today in The Sun's online edition.

The Eurovision programme will be one of several themed specials lasting 60 to 90 minutes long, with other broadcasts focusing on Summer hits, Halloween chart successes, Country music, Christmas songs and The Police, with the latter timed to coincide with the group's comeback tour this year. The programmes will air around August.

Top of the Pops 2 became the final programme to carry the Top of the Pops brand as the BBC's flagship music programme after the original show was moved to the BBC's second channel in recent years. Although the final show aired in July 2006, the special programmes will be a welcome revival of the pop celebration which began on New Year's Day, 1964.

pity the BBC wont show us this year's preview videos instead of 'treating' us to yet more archive clips we've seen many times before...

I love how people say the UK has no interest in th Eurovision. We may send crap songs but we have the 2nd highest viewing figures in the EBU and only yesterday I was on an international Eurovision poll and the majority of members were British.

I'd rather they showed the previews...the full version that we used to get on sunday afternoons in the 70s and 80s.... who else here used to tape them on a tape recorder from the tv back in the 70s? ;)
