Finns hit the road with OZZFEST 2007
Lordi invades the USA
After having released a special 2CD/DVD version of their latest album The Arockalypse, Lordi are ready to start their first tour across North America. The band sees it as an honour to be on OZZFEST. Mr Lordi stated that he is happy with the opportunity to show people in the U.S. what they can do and added that he is really anxious to see how the audiences will react to them: "My best friend is a huge Ozzy fan he’s really jealous of the whole thing. I’m gonna try and remember to pick him up an OZZFEST t-shirt when we return to Finland. For us the idea of playing OZZFEST is still hard to believe. I’ll believe it when we’re there." From their point of view, the United States tour feels "like coming home’. According to Mr Lordi due to the American musical and visual influences in their style, Lordi is often described as the ‘most American band’ in Finland.

Well, I am happy for them although I don't particularly care for their type of music.
I wish Lordi all the best, but I am also a realist. It is VERY hard for any band to make it in the USA. And it is even harder for European bands. They start from zero in the USA, so the success will not come in one night (like in Europe because of ESC). I believe they have to work as hard as any other band. It means a lot of work which will propably take minimum a year or two. We have to bear in mind that winning ESC means nothing in the USA. But I also think that if any of resent winners could do it in the USA, it would be Lordi.
Peter Eriksson, don't be boring... Lordi wouldn't get a long US tour if there wouldn't be any markets, I am pretty sure their record company Sony BMG, one of the biggest, know what their are doing.
I wouldn't buy their cd but I am happy they are doing well, the band is one of the most succesful ESC winner already.
Overall Finnish bands are doing really well these days, especially in German speaking Europe, right now there are two Finnish bands in Top 10 in Switzerland and Austria, one in Germany.
Yannis.
Elena staying in Greece is not a bad thing either. Of course she could go international, but she would be sacrificing her Greek career. With her staying in Greece and singing here, and releasing more Greek songs, it is just shooting her higher and higher into the Greek Music industry. This will help her ALOT in the long run. Remember, Elena chose Greece to come and sing, and not Sweden. She is a Greek artist above all. I think after she feels secure about her standing in Greece (She has said the same thing) that she will try the whole international thing again.
The Game of Love was released more for her European fans, and not to make her a world icon. Remember when she was with Antique, they used to released English versions of the Greek songs in Scandinavia. Before she was even proposed to go to Eurovision, she was planning an English version CD of "Proteriotia". That is why 2-3 of the songs from the CD appeared in English on her "Euro-Edition.".
You never know what will happen with an international career. Just because Elena has it all going for her (the whole package), it dosnt always guarantee success. Most artists that break through to the international music scene get there by luck. Let Elena do what she thinks is right. She is the one that makes the choices in her life, and so far all her choices have done her right.
You're right, Yannis. I think I was the only non-Greek at her Chicago concert. BTW, Ana Vissi is coming to Chicago next month.
Miguel, I am super duper fan of Helena. But I was very dissapointed when she released her international album and instead of going on trips promoting the album she just stayed in Greece. She lost a really big chance. Like in last November, Mambo releashed in UK as a single and Helena was nowhere near to promoted in result the single not even placed in the TOP40. Well it was a fault of her company here as well. But I really don't understand her. Why she staying in Greece when she have the look the age the voice and staging appearnace to become international artist!!! Yes she toured in the US, but by sold out venues fom Greek diaspora that does not mean international success. Any greek singer could do that. It is just shame, cause she can succeed!!!!

well good luck to them!!! i can see them charting on Billborad later this year
The american audience will most likley like lordi. There are ALOT of Rock fans, and most know about Lordi (and other int. bands too) already.
And then there are people claiming that Lordi have not had success since the ESC-final. Now, if being selected to join Ozzfest isn´t a success for a metal-band I don´t know what is.
@Peter Eriksson
Let the american audience decide wheater they are going to like Lordi or not. You are clearly over your head stating "they will NOT like Lordi". Have you done a poll, or what?
Lordi is coming to Chicago April 27. Guess who is going to see them!
BTW, the Tweater Center is actually across the river in Camden, NJ and not in Philadelphia, PA.
Elena toured I think Chicago, Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Connecticut (Foxwoods), NYC, Toronto, Montreal, and LA as part of her mini-North American tour.
Lordi beleive it or not, is actually known here in the US by rock fans for many years. Alot of them have heard about it. So a bigger tour is in justification.
Yanni, Helena toured the US after winning Eurovision. She filled a large venue in Chicago. Large Greek diaspora in the US.
Near Philadelphia.
Well it looks like that Lordi is the only recent Euovision winner that manage to establish intrnational career. Not even our beauty Helena Paparizou manage that.

Greekboy, Where in the US do you live? Chicago here.
lol. They are playing right near me.
All members in KISS had about the same style of outfits, they are a "unique" group (I don't like them at all by the way)!
But Lordi...one looks like a deid cow, and someone looks like a undead sceleton, one like a dead red-lobster and so on. Lordi looks like a halloween-joke, so I don't think no one is going to take them seriously!
Lordi are pathetic!
Erm......bands like KISS were higely popular in America so I cant see why LORDI wouldn't be. Good luck to them!
Lordi is NOT going to have any succes in the USA!
The american rock-fans is going to laugh!
Oh , you corrected the mistake ! No thanks ?
Beautiful title Lordi "ivades" the USA
ivades Hahahahaha.................... ...
