Lordi land in US Billboard Charts

As reported earlier this week, Lordi are pushing for a breakthrough into the US market via touring and CD/DVD launch. Although it is early days, they have already scored a spot on one of Billboard magazine's charts.

Winning the Eurovision Song Contest does not guarantee an international music career - within Europe or around the world. ABBA managed to use the Contest to launch theirs, but no one has repeated their success globally. Success in the US, the world's largest music market, remains elusive: one off hits for Volare, Ooh Aah Just a little bit and Eres tu, each which landed in the top 20 of Billboard magazine's Hot 100 are exceptions. Secret Garden have had several #1s on Billboard's New Age chart; most recently Helena Paparizou's winning My number 1 hit the top 10 of two Billboard dance charts.

Here comes Lordi! Mere weeks after releasing their repackaged Arockalypse CD in the US, Lordi have appeared on Billboard's Heatseekers chart at #37.

The Heatseekers chart tracks new artists CD releases.  Only acts whose CDs have never appeared in the top 100 of Billboard's Top 200 Album chart are eligible. If Arockalypse makes its way into the top 100, Lordi will no longer be eligible for the Heatseekers chart. Many radio programmers and music stores use the Heatseekers chart when selecting which new artists to promote.

Lordi  will return to Finland shortly before the 52nd Eurovision Song Contest kicks off in Helsinki in May.

Hanna Pakarinen hopes to repeat Lordi's success for Finland with Leave me alone, which has directly qualified for this year's final on 12 May.

Lordi was ever the best in the history. Finally something that is more today's music.
Hope Finland will score high again, they seem to produce songs that are not copies.
Yes, I am jealous to Finland this year also.

Promising news! Hopefully the Ozzfest can help Lordi move up the charts. But the US is a tough market for ANY non american artist/band nowadays. :)

Melina *: Do you even know what a one-hit-wonder is?
Allright, I tell you! A one-hit-wonder is someone that just have ONE succesful song!
So, do Lordi have another succesful song, or it is just "Hard Rock Halleluja"?

And why should I be jealous?
Do Lordi got something that I want? Melina *, you seems to know me, so tell me! What do Lordi got that I want???

@ Peter Eriksson, you are so jealous & negative that it's ridiculous... These several articles here right now about Lordi's success (worldwide mind you) prove already that they're not "one hit wonders", UNLIKE most other ESC winners... When will that stupid Lordi-bashing ever stop..?! Still seems they were a bit too much for some conservative people... but that's those people's shame, no one else's.

Hey, more power to them. At least I could say to everyone, "Hell, that song came out a year ago!"
