Latvia: Rai Uno interviews Roberto Meloni
RAI Uno, who was responsible for Italy's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, seems to be keeping an eye on the contest still. And the fact that one other country participates singing in Italian cannot have escaped them.
Roberto was born in Sardinia and left for Latvia to teach Italian. There, he not only embraced his new homeland but made a career in singing as well. He took part in several musical projects such as Factory of Talents, Duo Elizabet e Roberto, West Side Story among others, becoming very popular with the Latvian public.
In 2007 Roberto has the honor to represent Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest with Bonaparti.lv, having won the Eirodziesma by a landslide. Together with Normunds Jakušonoks, Zigfrīds Muktupāvels, Andris Ābelīte, Andris Ērglis and Kaspars Tīmanis, these Latvian Casanovas will attempt to steal Europe's hearts serenading in Italian with Questa Notte.
The CD single
Questa notte ( Music Kjell Jennstig , Lyrics Torbjorn Wassenius and Francesca Russo)
L´ immensita´
L´ amore tra noi mai piu´ finira´
Ora e poi e sempre di piu´
Questa notte per sempre sara´
Il profumo della pelle tua mi invita
A scoprire quel che non so
Fra le tante stelle tu mi fai scoprir la luna
E mi fa cantare l´ amor
Quando perdo la speranza tu mi dai la mano
Voglio stare qui con te
Vivere per te, solo per te
Questa notte sara´
L´immensita´
L´amore tra noi mai piu´ finira´
Ora e poi e sempre di piu´
Per la ragione che sai solo tu
Sai solo tu
Questa notte sara´
L´immensita´
L´amore tra noi mai piu´ finira´
Ora e poi e sempre di piu´
Questa notte per sempre sara´
Questa notte per sempre sara´

He take a part in all events where he is asked. He became 5th in latvian "Strictly Come Dancing".(He dance brilliant). I think he is good personality, allways funny and full of spirit.
At the beginning i thought that latvia will loose this contest, but then i heard all other songs and understood that other countries are not better...even worse. there are no brilliant songs. So don't be so rude..!
.. I think all people here who only complain have big problems. this song is pretty cool..
Ayka why English, Italian is far nicer!
Two non official video clips of the portuguese entrie this year, Sabrina with Dança Comigo.
The video clips are made by the site escportugal.blogspot.com and like I said are not officials, because the official video is being done by the music producer Emanuel.
Here are the links of the first and second videoclip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QYMYWM408I and http://www.youtube.c(...)/watch?v=tyRfFf-VzMQ
Thanks and comment on the videoclips
Go Portugal is this year
The one and only song possible to sing, which you like to sing, but it doesn't mean that the entry is simple. I personally prefere standing civilized singers singing good melody to paroxysms of cheap Euro-trush/ethno -performers. I hope some of the voters will have the same oppinion as mine. Come on.
good luck, latvia!
I really hope they will record an English version too..!!
I didn't know this was another Swedish entry. How many have we got now? Sweden (duh), Norway, Spain, Greece, Latvia...any I've forgot?
Well, it's a pity he enters the stage last, as he's the only native speaker of Italian...
But whatever you think of the song (and I like it, in a strange way), it will make a brilliant ending to the night of 10 May, couldn't think of a better way to end the show...
I'm so glad we don't have him in Italy, I hope he won't return to Italy
@inga
i'm not kidding you, they do really can't sing good or even normal. the opera thing means that they try to sing like opera singers, but theyr voices aren't trained for that(it looks so) becouse they can't sing the way they should. so, they try to do opera but they can't, thats silly. all other thing are also important, i just said my opinion, anyway wish them best luck, everybody wants to win and tries hard.
Hopefully RAI will get teased after seeing another country submiting a song in italian, and when almost all the european countries are in,it is really stupid to keep italy out
Oh, I just got new version of Questa notte and it's briliant... I still love them
They are strong when singing together, guys from Spanish group could learn something from them. Song might not be original but it's nice to listen and since it's very different from others, it will be noticed. Good luck to Latvia.
cannot stand this. so boring.

1. They can't sing???? You're kidding. You think that your named Georgia girl SINGS better than these guys??? OK you like her song better, but I realy doubt that she sings BETTER...
2. Are you good in italian?????
3. OMG. I didn't knew that standing in performance has to have meaning. Do you think that for example Irish entry last year was a stanting performance with meaning??? I even can't understant this your argument. And as I remember in our final Bonaparti stood in letter V, which means you know what.... From you this is a very silly argument...
4. Closing can be change and I think almost every performer in this years ESC will change closings. This is not the reason to be outsider.
5. Phe. Nobody is going to be opera singers. This was project especialy for ESC and it will stay like that. In the first interview they said, that is better to sing in bad italian than in bad english... Ha...they have a sence of humor also. And this the reason, why this project has to be not taken up so seriuosly, they ar having fun and that is why they are good...
@inga i didn't say it's bad, i probably didn't express myself correctly. so i'll do it now. latvia this year is terrible:
1.they can't REALLY sing.
2.they can't really sing in ITALIAN
3.their performance actualy ISN'T a performance, they just stand (you can stand, but there has to be idea, why they stand, what they want to express, and now they just cam ant he action is over)
4.their clothing is terrible!!!! change it, cum on??!!
5.if they aren't opera singers eurovision isn't a place to become ones!
goood luck to all!
Love this song!
Roberto Meloni...stay in Italy. Don't go to Helsinki. Your song is crap.
Italy...in the words of Jessica Garlick.."Come back!"

So?!!! I put Georgia 18th, because I liked "Tell me why" better that this...so what. Lithuania is in my top as 11th among 42 countries and I don't see any bad thing in that.... I can't understand what this has to do with all discussion. In my profile this is my top and I see it like that...
nothing interseting, at all. specialy the performance,
@inga in your profile i saw how much you don't like georgia song and compare it with lithuania, sorry to tell you, but those both songs are MUCH better than this!
@Luigi
Ha ha ha. Latvians even were in San Remo with Albano. Our Cosmos sang with him, so take it easy with Roberto, he is cool. So we still pick the best of what we have, and every year it is something different and I hope we will be soon awarded for that with 1st place. Maybe not this time, but we will...
latvia always do something different don't they!
When I made my "favorite-list", I was surprised to see Latvia as my nr17. Probably becous the song is amzing, when they not are singing live!
I really like this song (in fact it is one of my favourites this year), but I really HATE their singing.
As I said earlier, in one of previous discussions at ESCtoday, they are not opera singers, they are opera wannabies.
Especially. I dont like the first singer in the second part of the song (after the first chorus) - he is seriously horrible.
