Macedonian only for Karolina
Karolina's wishes were not ignored, and officials experimented with different versions of the song before settling on the purely Macedonian version. Tanja Gogoska, head of the Macedonian delegation, said "We acknowledge Karolina, but MKTV will not change their decision to have the song sung in Macedonian. Along with that, a version of the song that contained the mix of languages was created and heard before the decision was made."
Still flying high
Meanwhile, Karolina continues to find solid support at Eurovision polls across the Internet, most recently coming top of the list at the site All Kinds of Everything. FYR Macedonia has managed to pass through every one of the semifinals since they were introduced in 2004, and if the polls are anything to go by, 2007 will be no different. At any rate, Karolina looks set to redeem her Eurovision reputation after a disappointing showing at the 2002 contest.
Meanwhile on MKTV, fellow Balkan representatives Aleka Gotar for Slovenia and Stephen Faddy for Montenegro are busy promoting their respective entries; the two Marijas will follow suit for Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina on April 15th.
Bilingualism at Eurovision
Mixed language versions of Eurovision entries are not unusual, as FYR Macedonia was represented in both English and Macedonian in Athens. Other countries to have presented their songs in both languages at the Eurovision Song Contest include Portugal (2003) and Cyprus (2000), the latter choosing the unusual option of singing in Italian and Greek at the first contest of the new millennium.

Albanian are Macedonian!!
Marc i cant really say Albanian is an official official language since the bill regarding it affected the municipalities with at least 20% of Albanian population only which are Skopje,Tetovo,Gostivar and some cities in western Macedonia,or the whole western part of it lol.
Anyhow,dont mind having a mix at the national ESC.It s a question of whether its gonna do well since not many Macedonians would vote for it

Yes , German entry in 1999 was sung partly in Turkish by band made of Turkish immigrants residing in Germany .
The difference however is that Turkish is not official language in Germany , while Albanian is one of official languages in Macedonia .

i doubt it. it was actually reported on the news that in the census data were included deceased members and diaspora groups (non citizens) which obviously do not count as citizens of the Republic of Macedonia. So the claim that there are more than what the census presents is hard to believe. If the numbers were to be exaggerated they would be much lower. Even so, the Albanian minority in Macedonia is a sizable one and the Republic of Macedonia has shown a great deal of maturity in conducting an ethnic/linguistic census and respecting the human rights of all of its citizens. Not many countries in the world and especially the balkan region have done this.
Anyway, let's get back on the topic shall we?
Was not totally in Turkish.Was a mixture of German,Turkish and English.However ,the major part of the song was in German.
Dont care if one sings in Albanian.He will never get voted out.

Albanian population in macedonia is growing - that's why i said it's only question of time . I still prefer macedonian , it's much prettier language than albanian.
I don't know why we are discussing the language thema. In Macedonia there are some good singers of the albanian nationality and I do respect them, but in order to be famous here they need to sing in macedonian, just as Tose Proeski, our best singer, has to sing serbian/croatian to sell his albums in former Yugoslavia. (and he is VERY successful!)

The Albanians make up 23%, not 30% of the population in Macedonia
Albanian singers from Macedonia can take part at the national contest and sing in Albanian but they will never win it.It s only 30% Albanians out of the whole population.And i don't think MTV will let any non Macedonian song on the ESC
Albanians have their own country marc. If you want to hear to the albanian language, listen to their entry.
I think it's only a question of time when FYRMacedonia will send a song in Albanian.
Actually Albanian is the second official language of the Republic of Macedonia after Macedonian.
Because the actual albanian language doesn't suit singing so well, it'd be great to have one year an rnb entry where the song is in macedonian and rapping in albanian. It would actually sound pretty cool.
As for Karolina's entry this year, i think it would be ideal for her to sing all choruses in english and the rest of the words in Macedonian. The last chorus should also be sung in Macedonian as a reinforcement.
If you don't hook people in early, they will not take notice of the whole song.
Marc W, Macedonia has allowed the minority languages (albanian, turkish, serbian) to be used TOGETHER with the macedonian language in the municipalities in which a certain ethnic group make up at least 20% of the population. But it doesn't make the macedonian any less official language of the country. 
I love to listen to songs in different languages, but I don't see why would, for example, the Slovenians sing in hungarian (same thing there). The macedonian is melodic enough
What about Albanian ? It is one of official languages in Macedonia .
Maybe the song should be in Macedonian- Albanian- English ?

I think that is real good idea because i believe this song is only meant to be sang in macedonian and with only english at the end it will give everyone an idea of what it is about ( however im from Monaco, i dont know macedonian but i still get what it is supposed to be about).
i really like this song and hope it goes far.....after Karolina deserves it, 2002 just wasn't fair.

I think Karolina is very unsatisfied with the decision of MTV to sing in macedonian only and she still tries to make it her way 50% english: 50% macedonian.
In my opinion, only the last chorus in english would be the best solution. This is definitely not the best translation of a song we've heard

MKTV were in the right to keep it macedonian, thats the way it should be .....my top 5:
1. FYR Macedonia
2. Cyprus
3. Serbia
4. Bulgaria
5. Slovenia
This song will be in the top 10........its an original and powerful song.
After all Karolina does deserve it since she was ripped in 2002.

no way, that FYROM is gonna win this or any other contest with such a medicre singer and a boring, nothing special entry..i think, this will be the first time that FYROM wont pass the semi finals, and this out of 2 reasons: the song is very medicre and this time the balkan vote blocking will go to bulgaria, and that is good, cause voda is very good
