Cypriot choreographer for Vertigo

Malta: A little help from Cyprus

From island to island, it seems that this year's Maltese entry Vertigo will be getting a little help from Cyprus, with the choregraphy for the performance in the hands of a Cypriot artist.

Cyprus' own Anna Christodoulidou will be taking care of the choreography for Malta in Helsinki, although she will have a head start, building on concepts already outlined over the last week by the Maltese crew. The performance will include three backing singers, a violinist and gong-player on stage, and "numerous other surprises" which will be revealed over the coming weeks.

Extremely interesting, to say the least!
Singer Olivia Lewis is no stranger to Anna's style, having worked with her in the past. Just before leaving for Belarus as part of her promotional tour, she found time to chat to the press and said that she was "very happy that Anna will be doing the choreography - I have worked with her in the past and she's just great". Olivia also hints at the surprises in store: "I feel confident that the proposed choreography will impress. There are elements which will be extremely interesting to watch, to say the least!"

This is not the first cross-border artistic collaboration in Eurovision - Russia put on an international show in 2004 when French choreographer Kamel Ouali was the driving force behind the stage performance.

Not impossible for Malta to win. I was just wondering if a country had won the year after finishing last and have discovered that Belgium won in 1986 after finishing last in 1985. Apart from that you have to go back to Netherlands 1959 win after finishing last in 1958. Good luck Malta!

I don't know why we keep on voting to Cyprus!!! At least last year they sent a good song!!! Normally i quite like Cyprus, but this year i hope that this will not be an excuse to give you 12!! Maltese people (unfortunately) do not vote for the song, but for the person : last year 12 points to switzerland - keith was a member of 6 4 1 , 2005 we gave 12 to cyprus because he was a freind of chiara and so on!!! please Malta vote for the song this year!!!

well first of all i think there should be more tolerance here... mostly Molly and Marco Lia... you dont have to be hammalli as we say in maltese!

second... im really glad seeing Anna working in our team... lets say it.. Jes choreography was cheesy in our national final and when Olivia went to Cyprus the performence with Anna was extremley GOOD!!

i hope Anna will help Olivia with her dance moves which im sure she will. also when they speak about surprises... i hope therewilll be some REAL surprises not just stupid gimmicks... i remember hearing the same team saying about Julie's laugh at the end of the song "on again off again"as a gimmick..wtf?! we want to see real gimmicks... but i must say that the same team had the idea of Ira Losco throwing the glitters and was fantastic so this must be said

anyway good luck to Olivia... best song ever sent by us... will get many pointsim sure ;)

lol - we have no intention of a war with cyprus - and i dont think that the majority of the maltese really bother - that malta always give cyprus points - and cyrpus returing very very few back ! (only the fans really care and observe about this) However , talking from my personal experience - i felt very sorry - about the cypriot 2005 voting ! on malta tv - we had costantionos - always hugging chiara for the whole eurovision week ! tune in at 8pm on our national tv station - and you see chiara and costantinos - looking as a married couple ! costantinos gave us high hopes - and we believed! we believed so much - that we gave cyprus a very generous 12 pts! we were expecting a 10 pts from cyprus (eventhough i heard it many times that cyprus might even give 12 to malta that year - despite of greece having their best ever entry) ! but i didnt believe the 12 pts - but i was expecting a well - deserved 10 ! so it was only that time that i felt i was a Little bit 'anti-cyprus' !however - i dont feel anything against cyoprus - and i dont think that any of the maltese are anti-cyprus - malta loves cyprus - and cyprus will get points again from malta ! even greece i guess will receive some good points from malta !

I fully don't agree with the heading of this news. Malta is getting no help from Cyprus...if Anna, the coriographer, is Cypriot does not mean that cyprus is helping Malta. Anna just wished to help Malta and presented her coriography ro be choosen from and that was chosen...and mind you...in Malta we have coriographers..just to make that clear...but their submissions weren't as good as that of Anna for the Vertigo Team...hopefully Anna is more credible than the Greek Team last year who messed up I Do...

Good Luck Olivia :)...Malta will give 12 points to Cyprus...Malta loves Cyprus ;)

lets change the name from malta to say for example MACEDONIA. TURKEY. CROATIA ARMENIA ETC. WE WOULD STAND MORE CHANCE TO BE IN THE FINALS.

WITH NO BLOCK VOTING AND NO DIASPORA, MALTA GETS HER REULTS( GOOD OR BAD} ALWAYS ON ITS OWN CREDIT.

FINALLY WE ALL KNOW THAT MALTA'S RECORDS IN THE ESC IS A VERY GOOD ONE.

Just read the news on a maltese website - that Malta was the highest climber this week - when you sum up - what all the betting companies are registering ! so i would like to thank all the europeans who are playing money on malta - because they believe in malta's song ! the more money they play - the more the chances that they will vote for malta - so keep it going ! hehe! while thanking all the people who are supporting the maltese song - i would like to encourage people that dont like what malta is presenting this year -to criticise in a constructive manner and write what they would like to see changed - for a better package ! i am sure that olivia and her team - have their eyes on all eurovision websites - and take all comments/ criticism seriously - and work hard to improve! (well if you hate the maltese song so much - that you would like to see even the song - changed - then there''s nothing we can do) so please my plea is for people who wish that malta will do well in the next eurovision song contest !
finally i would like to thank all the people reacting to the maltese news items - (even those who say our song is shit) - for showing such interest in our song and artist (and i am not being sarcastic) ! :) ! good luck to all participants - i hope that every nation will end up proud - with the artist they are being represented with!
good night - from malta !

I don't like this song much, but considering the relatively poor competition this year, it should probably qualify for the final.

Good luck Malta

maltas song this tear is one of the best, not to say THE best: unusual, original and dramatic..olivia sings very good, and with a touch of cypriot passion, it can score really high..or people will vote again this year for the second time for some funny carnevsl clowns..then of course there will be no place for such a good song...FORZA MALTA, FORZA VERTIGO, FORZA OLIVIA!!!

I dont think - that we dont vote france - because of the language ! i mean frech is one of the most amazing languages spoken ( i just love the sound of it) ! i dont think that we dont give high points to france because of the language! however france and malta never really vote for each other - i dont know the reason why - lol ! however daniel laus might have a point - because for example in 2001 - france for me had the best song - together with greece and i dont know how malta could possibly give nil ponts to that amazing song ! was it the language ? my personal opinion : NO! but who knows ? lol ! but still - i believe malta will give some good points to evridiki ! and maybe to france aswell ! i wish that malta and france begins to exchange some high points aswell :)

@ ian s

I don't think that malta is going to give any high points to Cyprus this year since french is not much used in Malta, in fact if you check the points malta gave to France or better french songs the point is to mention the highest mark is 4

Bah... Malta will never learn! Why can't Malta have a 100% Maltese package? I mean last year the so-called foreign "experts" ruined what was an already awful song.

Ohh noo! The choreography thing again !

I feel that its the choreography will break or mend the situation...I hope that everything turns out smoothly...

Forza Olivia !
