Katrina and Toto in Valetta
Former winners in Malta concert
Malta's Labour Party, which is coordinating the event on May 1st, will set up three large stages in Valetta, the largest being on Pjazza Helsien. It is here that the culmination of the day's events will take place: a three-hour concert showcasing both local and European talents such as Katrina and the Waves (UK 1997) and Toto Cotugno (Italy 1990), alongside this year's hope for Malta Olivia Lewis. Scar, who competed against Olivia in this year's Maltese final, will also be present, as well as Italian artists Alessandro Canino and Alex Tamburini.
The Labour party have described the event as "a gift to the people", and entrance is free of charge to everyone. No doubt most locals are hoping that a little winners' luck might rub off on Olivia, who will fly out to Helsinki not long after Worker's Day is over!

Again..... Katrina.... She must be related to Mr. Logan and the Brotherhood of man. They must be the cheapest artists of the ESC as they pop-up everywhere...... And looking at their clothes.... same as when they won.
"Save your light another year"...... or was it "Hold your shining kisses for me"?? Who cares??? All three just crap!

It was great to hear Katrina perform [i]Love shine a light[/i] and [i]Walking on sunshine[/i] on our national final this year. She's an amazing performer, we couldn't wish for better guest.
Katrina is going to Malta becasue she feels Olivia could be a potential winner! At least she was extremely enthusiastic about this song!

KATRINA back in 1998...during MALTA'S NATIONAL FINAL...said that 'THE ONE THAT I LOVE' by CHIARA that YEAR had GREAT POTENTIAL TO WIN....and that was happening but....everyone knows what the rest of the story

Nice one Ian!!! I guess it will be the best ESC in Malta!!! I imagine that during the interval act, the roof of the Malta Fair&Convention Centre will open and there will be fireworks syncronized the winning song of the previous year (hopefull Vertigo) and a beautiful show!!! It will surely impress europe and they will let us win again hahaha

Yeah - katrina became very friendly to malta after she visited us for the 1st time in 1998! we only gave her 1 point in 1997 - but that was because malta was not on good terms with UK as regarding eurovision voting - but that's history now - as these 2 countries exchange alot of points - when they have good songs! she surely enjoyed her visit in 1998 - and that is why she is coming back to Valletta! in this concert i am sure that many other maltese artists will be announced that they will take part - and not just only SCAR and OLIVIA LEWIS ! but i guess more news to follow! this concert is another confirmation - that us maltese love music and love eurovision! and its also a confirmation - that even a simple workers day celebration - is celebrated as a big festa in malta - just imagine - in what STYLE we will organise the eurovision song contest! this little island - knows how to organise things - lately we hosted the common wealth meeting (CHOGM) and we were also chosen to transmit across europe our celebrations when we joined the EU - because they were the best in europe! aaahhhh - you dont know what you're missing - not voting for malta .. haha .. you haven't seen anything of what class is eurovision song contest - if it never happened in MALTA ! hehehe ! - we are ready to HOST it ! we are !
euro diva ,you would moan if people didnt support eurovision things, at least katrina remembers winning and always goes to say hello to fans, unlike the three women you mention, and katrina was famous before esc and still holds the highest score when the contest was in the original format, you answer your own question, where are helena/ ruslana/ sertbad? thats what everyone wants to know, but everyone remembers katrina and she is still asked to perform
