Prayer for the weekend
The Ark’s new album just released
The album is called Prayer for the weekend and includes the song for the Eurovision Song Contest plus 10 brand new songs. According to aftonbladet.se it is “a mix of direct pop explosions, spandex operetta and disco cabaret”. All of this gives “an action full rock musical with high tempo and hair-raising chorus’s. The mood is naked from waist and up, the champagne is to drink directly from the bottle. Most of the songs are partying like it was last pay roll weekend before the apocalypse”.
Having song titles like Death to the martyrs and Little dysfunk you in mind your esctoday.com reporter has just ordered the album simply just to find out how an album described like that sounds!
Full track list:
Prayer for the weekend
The worrying kind
Absolutely no decorum
Little dysfunk you
New pollution
Thorazine Corazon
I pathologize
Death to tje martyrs
All I want S you
Gimme love to give
Uriel
The Ark are directly qualified for the final in Helsinki and furthermore they are tipped a top placement by the bookmakers so the worrying kind doesn't really have much to worry about.

Sorry,it is one of the worst songs of this year ! ~~~~
Maybe it is allowed to recommend a little link for those who want to check the songs out by themselves?

I just wonder who they're singing about in Death To The Martyrs. Feels like it could be someone famous...
I keep playing it all the time. The fun thing is that the Ark is one of few artists/bands that both me (40+) and my daughter(12) absolutely loves. I'm not sure which one of us has the biggest crush on Ola Salo.
@Lookie Birdie: I definitely agree with you! The album is fantastic, not one bad song, all of them different. The two first single releases have both reached No 1 and you cannot even tell which one will be next! I guess "Little Dysfunk You", and if it does not reach No 1 as well, I would be surprised ... Then we have "Prayer of the weekend" and why not "Death to the martyrs".
An album with 11 songs, all potential singles! That is marvellous! And "The Worrying Kind", which also is a good song, is not the best song, but it fits well with the rest.
I really cannot tell which song I like the best, because I like them all. Perhaps it is "Little Dysfunk You", with its strong chorus and thrilling beat. But then there is the super disco song "Prayer For the Weekend", "Death To the Martyrs" with its wicked lyrics
, astonishing arena rock song "Absolutely No Decorum", the funny boogie pastiche "The Worrying Kind", cool "I Pathologize", weird "Thorazine Chorazon", hand-clap gospel "Gimme Love ..." Oh, I just cannot decide.
I pity you who have only head the ESC and make up your mind only from that. You have no idea what you are missing - not yet.
Perhaps they will miss points because they are not going on promoting tours, but on the other hand they work hard. With an album release, concert tours ... which is what real rock musicians do.
@Vicky Leandros: ABBA certainly made some unforgettable albums, but when they won ESC they made the "Waterloo" album and I dare say that is was not as good as "Prayer for the weekend". Their real greatness came later. So, this is the strongest album ever from an "ongoing" ESC entry, IMO.
Great album. Just a pity that four-five songs are so much better than The Worrying kind. @ Lookie Birdie: The reason that this is so good for a Eurovision artist probably is that they're a "real" band, with a carreer with or without ESC. They don't need Eurovision! Best album of a national ESC winner ever? Well maybe, but I recall this Swedish band from the late seventies that did a few OK albums, what were they called again
You sorry ass, you sorry ass oh death to the martyrs come on!!....
This album is amazing! The sonds are diffferent t each other but still so much The Ark. I really love "I Pathologize", "New Pollution" and "Dysfunk You". Uriel is an amazing ballad that the singer Ola wrote when he was 16. Uriel are very different to the other songs so are "The Worrying Kind" and "Absolutely no Decorum" and "Dysfunk you" and "Gimme Love"...
Well I recomend this album, "All I want is you" is good too.
Chi Chi,
I love Turkey´s´entry, aswell! I think you guys have a big chance for a second victory this year!
@annika
then why not kenan with his unique funky r'n' b tune
Their sound may be "old fashioned", but who sounds like The Ark in this years Eurovision? No one. It can be an advantage so have a unique sound compared to the other contestants whatever that sound may be. With uniqe I´m saying in this years competition, not overall unique....
I have listened through the album 7-8 times now and what can I say...very possibly the best album of a national ESC winner ever. Yes, counting all of Europe. The chorus in Little Dysfunk You gives me chivers everytime i listen to it.
Good luck in ESC, Ark! Though you don't really need luck...
I just love this band and song! Good luck from Lithuania!
the ark can win eurovision..
This album is one of the best I have heard in ages, its absolutely brilliant!!
old fashioned glam rock again but times have changed... go kenan go verka
I think The Ark is a wonderful band! They do great songs with important lyrics and it's that kind of songs that makes me happy. I also think that "The Worrying Kind" is one of their best songs. I hope it will do well in Helsinki. =)
hmmm... read on expressen.se that their new turné includes visits in Finland, Denmark and Norway. It's good, but they should do some promotion in other contries as well. That could cost them some points...
Ana S, the Ark's song is decades more modern than Måns song. However, it has some influences from 60's and 70's, but that's just positive. It would be scandal if The Ark don't finsih top 5 in Helsinki.
GO SWEDEN!
The Ark are great - The Worrying Kind is maybe not one of their best songs ("Clamour for Glamour" and "One of us is gonna die young" are, among others), but they, especially Ola Salo, are so great that they could probably sing the phone book & it would sound good...
The Ark is a very good choice for Sweden and they will do great in the final!
Go The Ark Go Sweden
The titles sound promising! :-)
fantastic entry-its one of my faves/

ANA S:
You think The Arks song is old fashioned, but you like Måns song???
Anyway, I wanted one of the ballad-chicks to represent Sweden, becous they really want this!
The Ark, Måns etc just want to use the ESC for there own promotion!
Don't like the swedish song this year....maybe the album is okay?...
