First OGAE win for Elitsa & Stoyan
Lebanon votes Bulgaria
Lebanon are a welcome part of the Eurovision family as the national broadcaster is a member of the EBU, and the country very nearly had its first entry in the song contest back in 2005 with Aline Lahoud. However, this was not to be, and Lebanon withdrew amidst controversy surrounding the broadcasting of the Israeli entry. However, a core of fans still tunes in each year, and now they add their vote to the pot in the pre-contest OGAE preview rounds!

as I said somewhere... I hear those points are totally virtual and irregular... if they used regular voting as they should I guess then when you sum up all final pts and divide it with 58 (which is sum of pts by a voter) you get a result which is not round number something like 24.344 and that is a bit odd ... dunno !!?
@Carmel Farrugia:
i am sorry t disappoint you, but please be prepared!!!this year greece and Cyprus will exchange again their 12 points(well, if Cyprus gets to the final), and that has nothing to do with politics or the neighbourng country voting(Cyprus is much more far away than Albania or Bosnia from Greece or even Slovenia)..it is about this thing that the ESC viewers will never get it: Greece and Cyprus have the same stars, the same taste in popular music, it is like one common market...is it so hard to understand?
@Haim DOV Haimson:
i find your views on your topic very very good and you are 100% right..and for me, well Israel was and still isone ofmy favourite countries on the eurovision stage, but i would be extremely happy if Lebanon or other countries would participate..ESC is about music and not politics, you are more than right
Lebanon go back your own place. You don't have chair here. What kind of relationship you have wit Bulgaria to voting them. Are you out of your mind. Don't be crazy.
No not this votes here but the actual votation on the night! Everyone can notice that in the final neighbours nearly always vote for each other! For eg let us see if this year greece votes cyprus and vice versa...
I like this votes
Why does in Eurovision the countries always vote for their neighbour countries?! Is it supposed to be a contest for the best song?!
@ Edin S
No,i don't find it racistic,if you think so then i suggest you've never been to middle-east,israel and lebanon are 2 exceptions there,and i agree with zohar that lebanon is more open towards different faiths than israel.
Religion is not important in ESC only if talk about secular countries like Turkey or Israel and Lebanon,and i mean secularism in practice not just on a piece of paper,like some middle-eastern countries claim to have
Actually, Lebanon is a liberal country with the most tollorant laws in the middle east (even more than Israel). Too sad there is so much corruption and an overrun of terror orginizations and an eventual civil war that killed that country. Do you realize that Lebanon was supposed to be the Jewel of the Middle East ?
@ Nikolas Vertigo
I totally get your point
And i am for Lebanon to take part because aside from being an EBU member,they have kind of a European culture and around 40% of the population is christian,they are different from other Middle-eastern states.
@ Marc W
You know why Poland always lose? Becouse we don't have typycal eurovision songs! It's all. I think so Jet Set and "Time To party" is better them f.e. Cyprus, Belarus or FYR Macedonia, but is only my opinion, mine and only mine, but maybe Poland go to final on this year, who know?
P.S. I don't like german song too, I only like Max from 2004.
wow, 4th place for Lithuania, its surprise
People seem to be pro-Lebanon in the contest, BUT I don't understand actually why Jordan doesn't join the party. Israel and Jordan are at peaceful diplomatic ties with eachother, so there shouldn't be any problem for them to broadcast our song.
1. Germany
2. Latvia
3. Poland
4. Ukraine
5. Slovenia
also Israel, Turkey, B&H and Serbia
Once they recognise Israel (I do'nt mean to bring politics in but just making a point) there should'nt be a problem !
LEBANON! COME ON, JOIN FOR 2008!!!!!!
see you all in BEIRUT 2009! :]
Ukraine?!?! cmon ppl
Pleeeease . Polish song so sucks ! It's another cheap american song, those make me puke.
Lebanese choice for 2005 was so nice and classy.
14 place at semifinal is Poland
It's very good info.
I think so we have great song on this year and we can go to final. Why? becouse polish song is not traditional copy of typical eurovision songs (f.e. Evridiki from Cyprus, Koldun from Belarus or Karolina from FYR of Macedonia). if we lose I wish good luck for Ukraine, becouse Verka is very, very good artist
I still remember her song 'hop hop hop' with polish singer - Michal Wisniewski (Ich Troje). She sing here in polish!
12 points from Poland goes to UKRAINE!

@nikolas vertigo
Forget Morocco! They took part in ESC only once and probably never again. Because their king was unsatisfied with the poor result they made in 1980 and forbid Morocco to participate ever again or something like that. Lebanon had to withdraw because they didn't want to broadcast the Israli song, they simply meant to skip it at at ESC night. Well, I must admit that I'm not very sad if countries with such an attitude decide not to participate at ESC.
@ Nikolas Vertigo
It was only a problem for the Lebanese broadcaster because in Lebanon it is not allowed to air Israeli culture on radio or tv.
@Aris Arakelian:
thanks for the info.....it was just an idea of mine, and i know that these countries belong already to central Asia...but there are so many countries i like and i would like to see them on the contest..i was also very happy athat Armenia started participating last year in Athens and that Georgia takes part from this year on..there are so many nice countries with great music and culture..lebanon is a member of the EBU, but because Israel and lebanon do not want to show live clips from each other(or something like that), lebanon had to withdraw...that's a pitty!! what about Moroccothen? they have taken 1 part in 1980, why not anymore? but please do not get me wrong, i like Israel in the contest very much
> Sorry but Bulgarian song is awful!
I agree with that.
Crazy results! How does Slovenia WIN the semi-final (beating Bulgaria, Cyprus, Georgia, and Iceland), and then finish behind all of those countries in the final (coming in tenth)? How does Belarus come in fourth in the semi-final (beating Bulgaria, Turkey, Serbia, and Iceland), and then finish behind all of them in the final? How does Bulgaria finish FIFTH in the semi-final, and then win the final? It makes no sense at all.
Would love to welcome Lebanon into the ESC family.
Surprisingly Lebanese fans did not vote for Turkey for the final...Strange
Sorry but Bulgarian song is awful!
