Swiss to be first EDC act

Dance Contest running order decided

Switzerland, the first winners of the Eurovision Song Contest will become the first country to participate at the Eurovision Dance Contest in London on September 1st. The running order for the new competition was decided in London last night.

The draw was made in a similar way to last year's Junior Eurovision Song Contest, with countries first drawn into groups under the supervision of an auditor, then placed in order to maximise the variety of performances for the live show.

Each country will be represented by a pair of dancers and each pair will perform two dances. The television audience will then vote for their favourite pair. Another similarity with the Junior Eurovision Song Contest is that voting lines will open at the start of the show. Each country will reveal their results in traditional Eurovision Song Contest style, announcing their points from one to eight, then ten and finally twelve points.

The full running order draw:

01 Switzerland
02 Russia
03 The Netherlands
04 United Kingdom
05 Austria
06 Germany
07 Greece
08 Lithuania
09 Spain
10 Ireland
11 Poland
12 Denmark
13 Portugal
14 Ukraine
15 Sweden
16 Finland

I don't know how anyone can mpredict the winner in this contest, it is not as if we have heard the songs and seen the video clips is it?

I think it will be a fun contest with lost of glitter and glam and energy. I welcome it and I dont care who wins as long as they can dance :)

It would be nice if the UK did well, the dancers we know are very good and will stand up to competition :)

Whenever Serbia or any other country wants to enter EDC, I will welcome it. Some people in here seem to have pleasure in desturbing other people that are really interested in the article. I really feel sorry for those sad persons

guys dont mind the retard that calls himself serbian boy...he is not serbian at all...he is just some one who is borring and retarded and wants to trash the reputation of serbia.
And Ruud there is no need to insult Easter Europe. And if you want it that way then you will have it, we are smarter as we have managed to organise our selves to vote for each other and you havent so we are better, so maybe one day you westeners will manage the same thing...
You see that wasnt nice so please have respect for us.
Eastern Europe is as good as the west...

Do you think russia will suffer from the curse of number two? And how well will uk do?

@Serbian boy...

...well, I think they deserve it. What a pity that Serbia doesn't participate. They wouldn't get much votes anyway, without their neighbours helping them.

@ Daniel YU..why so few, "Eastern" countries? Well presumably because they weren't interested in broadcastingti or taking part. No one was stopping them.

Yes Serbian Boy It always takes the east a few years to catch up with with west. Has always been like that. When the west loses interesst the east takes over.

I am looking forward to this contest and will watch it with gusto. Keep this one going and get rid of JESC.

It doesnt take much for the East v West comments to start on here does it. Good luck to all countries and lets hope they are voted for on their merits and not on the country they represent.
Actually thinking about it a smaller competition like this will clearly show any block or diaspora voting as it is easier to review

Haven't we had enough division in Europe without thinking in terms of East and West?

How does Central, Northern and Southern Europe slot into this silo mentality?

I will not watch the EDC. Why does it even exist? You can watch professional dancer from the whole world in TV. There isn't any good reason to make such a contest when there are a lot of professional dancing competitions already. It is different with the ESC. I don't know any other big competition where singers from many different countries compete. So the ESC is something special. You can't say the same about the EDC. The world championship in dancing for example is more important and interesting than the stupid EDC could ever be. I really can't imagine that the dancing quality will be very good at the EDC. The best dancers won't participate there.

If another Eastern country wins another one of these contests, I'd know for sure that the EBU is a fix :D

I think that the winner will be Denmark, Sweden or Finland.
Finland is the last in the running order, and it will be good for them. Like in The JESC..... the last performed song won the contest in the prev.2 years. (Russia 2006, Belarus 2005). So probably the winner will be Finland. :)
Good luck to Portugal, Switzerland and Lithuania. :)

Wouldnt worry too much about it Daniel - give it a few years and the East will hijack this event too.

AND FOR MORE INFORMATION EXCLUSIVE SPAIN WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN JESC 2007!!!! TVE says that the JESC do not give a good stereotype for the youth and that they want to do a break althoug the career in JESC of Spain is marvellous

2nd position in 2003 and 2005

1st position in 2004

4th position in 2006

AND OF COURSE TVE WILL NOT SHOW THE FESTIVAL ON TV

SPAIN OUT OF EUROVISION YEAH

Morten, of course we should, but this is a Eurovision televote. Obviously there's going to be an element of 'skewed' voting, whether it be Ukraine giving 12 points to Russia, Denmark giving 12 to the UK, Ireland giving 12 to Lithuania... all for different reasons, but equally predictable. Like I say though, it's not going to affect the overall winner. It never really does. Especially not with such small numbers and 'groupings' as with the EDC.

Of course, we don't know that 'Serbian Boy' is actually what he says. He could be someone from the West just stirring things up. He's a sad bugger whatever he is though!

I'm personally not sure how Serbia will cope with the large number of openly gay fans who attend the contest - I read that previous gay pride marches in Belgrade have ended in violence from nationalists and the police.

Anyway, I strayed off topic. As for EDC, shouldn't we wait to see the performances before we decide where our 12 points are going to?

Adrian Collins [25044]
Wed 8 Aug 2007 14:01:52

My my this isn't right - a competition where the West might stand a chance of actually winning.

What a pity with this east/west thing going on. The future of ESC is dark i'm afraid... Things won't be much better as long as we read stupid things like this from Serbian boy.
I'll look foreward to next years contest anyway and hope it'll be fun for everyone.
