It's never too late for an Ines comeback

Eurolaul finalists list is out

Estonian broadcaster ETV has announced the list of the 10 finalists that will compete in the Baltic country's selection process for Belgrade 2008. Five of them were selected by a jury, and the rest are invited composers. The jury had to choose five instead of four due to the resignation of an invited composer.

This is the list of participants that will compete in Eurolaul 2008:

  1. Ice-cold story – Iiris Vesik
  2. It's Never too late – Ines
  3. One on one – Rolf Junior
  4. Real big money – SKA Faktor
  5. Üksinduses – Kristjan Kasearu & Paradise Crew
  6. Leto svet - Kreisiraadio
  7. 365 Days - Birgit Õigemeel
  8. Question Man - Taavi Peterson
  9. Stefani - Supernova
  10. Winner of talent show Kaks takti ette

Ines has represented Estonia in the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Once in a lifetime and finished fourth. She has also taken part in the Estonian national finals in 2006 (2nd with Iseendale) and in 2007 (6th with In good an bad). The lead singer of SKA Faktor is Rebecca Kontus who was part of the group Suntribe that represented Estonia in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest but didn't qualify for the final with Let's get loud.

A professional jury composed of Toomas Puna, Alari Kivisaar, Allan Roosileht, Andres Panksep, Ahto Kruusmann, Raul Saaremets, Olev Ehrlich, Ivan Makarov, Owe Petersell, Koit Raudsepp and Sven Lõhmus chose the five first listed songs. The rest are songs from composers invited by ETV to take part in the Estonian national final.

Timo Steiner, one of those invited composers, decided not to participate in Eurolaul 2008. This is why the jury had to select 5 entries instead of 4, as it was previously announced.

The ten hopefuls will be presented on 26th January, one week before Eurolaul 2008 on 2nd February.

Iiris Vesik - hmm.. who she is? Girl from 2 takti ette I think :D. Yea, she was quite good :)

Ines - I really hope that she will have something better than 2007 or 2006. The song writers are different now, so we can hope that it will be something good.

Rolf Junior - Very Good Singer! He will have good song I think.. at least I hope :D.

Ska Faktor - Don't like it at all.. It's similar to Belgium 2007. Didn't like this either.

Kristjan Kasearu & Pradise Crew - Their song is really good. Much better than their last years "So Much To Say".

Kreisiraadio - HAHAHA :D SOooo good! :D I'm looking forward to see it! :D They're three good comedians and they probably will do a great show :).

Birgit Õigemeel - (L)!! My favorite! I loved her when she competed in Pop Idol. And now she has Paulus-Kotkas-Laisaar-Hallas and BALLAD.. This song will be probably the best!

Taavi Peterson - He's okay but I didn't like him in Pop Idol.. But he has Rannap, so he might have a good song.

Supernova - They might have similar song to "Partners In Crime" But Supernova is making a little bit different music so... who knows.. :D we have to wait :)

Estonia has not been very lucky, despite it was one of my favourite Eurovision countries in the 90s. I was really surprised when Estonia won in 2001, especially withthat song, and having as big favourites Greece and Denmark. In 2002 the song was good, but the live performance was bad (despite the 3rd position). Nothing special in 2003, I didn't like the entry of 2004, and 2005 was happy but average. In 2006 Estonai could have achieved the Final because of the kinf od the song, but the live performance was another time bad, and in 2007... good performance but wrong entry. I hope for something good this year (Maarja is still my favourite Estonian artist). Good luck then.

Winner of talent show Kaks takti ette ? That`s also the winner of the NF I guess. Such casting show winners have a big advantage.

don't think Ines has this in the bag - I guess the voting public is more interested in "fresh" faces rather then someone who (successfully) represented their country some years ago.

Birgits single just reached the top 3 in the estonian charts and she won the finals of that huge success called Estonian Idol with 70%. I think we can assume that this all works in her favor and we should take her as a serious contender.

I remember Taavi. I saw he singing "Iseendale" from Ines, it was TOTALLY AWFUL. Hope to never see him in Eurovision. He sang like Begacha or Dobromir Peev, from Bulgarian selection for 2008.

yay to Birgit Õigemeel!
she has a fabolous voice, her performance skills are awesome and her looks are gorgeous - you can say she has the whole package!
hope she wins this and finally brings Estonia back to the final!

Taavi Petersson on the other had is a scary talentless clown who undeserved got a 3rd placement on Estonian Idol. he would be an embarrasment for Estonia to represent
