EuroBlog Round-up (22 January)
The Eurovision Song Contest season is really on us now. It seems the lucky fan with the right satellite receivers and the right high speed internet connections can watch a qualifying round every other night from now until the first week or so of March.
Euroblogger is so busy watching every national semi-final that there's hardly any time to craft the round-up of all the juicy Song Contest rumours flying around the Internet. So for once let's do this as a series of tabloid-style "blind items".
BLIND GOSSIP
Which "literary" sounding Swedish hopeful is promising to show lots of skin as her secret weapon at Melodifestivalen? The Schlagerboys know and they say she's gonna be shakin her 'backside'. ...
Is it just Euroblogger or was someone who lost a ballerina in a piano inpsired by Carola's sing-a-long wardrobe for the interval act in Belarus? ...
Speaking of Belarus, The World of Eurovision thinks Work your magic sung by Dmitry Koldun (if he doesn't change it again) is the country's strongest entry yet. At least he said that "Dmitry is the first performer out of Belarus who can hold down an English accent."
Could these girls (link but not to their Contest entry here) be taking Lord G:Son of Schlager back to Eurovision for Romania? Maybe Switzerland isn't the only country with a Lou Bega fixation. ...
Which country did not receive a submission from Lord G:Son of Schlager? ...
Is it true that none of the Finnish songs have key changes? ...
Back to Belarus for one more beat ... did anyone else think someone on that show was having a few problems with their meds? ...
Finally, are Baby Doll who sang for Yugoslavia in 1991 hoping to enter this year for Slovenia? Or is that Baby Doll - The Next Generation? Baby of Baby Doll?
You decide ...
Yoguslavia 1991 Slovenia 2007?
HOT LIVE BLOGGING ACTION
Be careful where you click when you go searching out the sources behind this gossip. It's a big, bad world out there. Euroblogger clicks on all the links, because that's his job. But you don't have to. Why just last week Euroblogger clicked on a link that mentioned Bucks Fizz and soccer hooligans and promised "Eurovision Song Contest - Hot Live Blogging Action". Well next thing you know the EuroBlog laptop was filled with all-male movie clips - not suitable for family viewing - and completely unrelated to any Song Contest. Just so you know. Forewarned is forearmed
